Trust me on this: Among those actually affiliated with FARMS, I am (to my shame and to the detriment of my serious work) the person who is by far most involved with message boards. Most never look at them at all. One or two occasionally look in, but rarely if ever participate.

The message board world just isn't that important or central to most people, and it certainly isn't to any of my academic colleagues.

I believe you. Will's little one-man show is not the kind of spectacle most people would enjoy.

That means you know at least one more FARMS associate who pays attention to what goes on here than does Dr. Peterson. He's not in the same loop, I suppose.

Or, pray tell, what do you mean by "certain FARMS friends" and "a couple people associated with FARMS?" Are they the same group?

Why bother, Chris?

Oh, I don't really intend to bother with Schryver. He's a petty, shameless, tawdry provocateur. I just hope to give other Latter-day Saints (especially prominent ones, such as Dr. Peterson) the opportunity to distance their religion from his crude extremism.

For quite some time now, I have had something on my mind, and this thread seems like the appropriate place to finally “get it of my chest." It’s just been weighing heavy on me, and I wasn’t sure if I’d ever find an opportunity where I’d feel comfortable sharing it:

Poop.

Now that I have gotten that monumental burden out in the open, to the OP:

liz3564 wrote:According to Elder Ballard's talk in this month's Ensign discussing do's and don'ts of the Internet, ALL of us who are posting both here AND MAD need to repent:

Of the things G-d would like to see me repent of, I’m fairly certain this is at the bottom of the list.

Good talk though. Thanks for posting it (given the ease at which I can devolve into a boorish prick, I can never have too many reminders).

No, no, Steuss.

It's inappropriate to discuss poop on a public message board, sweetheart.

If you'd like to talk about your butt trunk, that would be just fine.

I do. I think he's quite capable of lying in his teeth, straight faced and looking into the eyes of the person he's deceiving.

On the other hand, I think Daniel looks like a zookeeper who's lost his hyena.

Would you like his name and address?

He's a good friend. I served with him on the high council for several years, and also as his executive secretary. I'm pretty sure he could use a good laugh right about now.

Yes I would. Please give them to me. Thank you in advance.

No need now. I've pointed him to this message board and given him specific links to the threads in question. I think that's him I hear laughing right now from half way across town.

You see, my dear antagonist, the flaw in your plan to "expose" me is that I am absolutely no different on this message board than I am in real life. That's a game for others to play. My stake president would not be shocked (or chagrined) at me calling you apostates filthy whores of Babylon. Indeed, he might just add a few adjectives to the mix.

It's no wonder you people couldn't hack it as Mormons. You don't have a freaking clue -- about the nature of God or His people. That's why it shocks you to have someone declare that Porter Rockwell is in heaven, and apostates go to hell.

So, Bill offered me this point of contact, and then refused to do it. Color me absolutely shocked, once again, that a Mormon would lie. Shocked I tells ya. So, we have the talking carcass, your stake president, your wife, and some FARMS people who love your vulgar schtick. Interesting how the *cough* luminaries of Mormonism delight in wallowing around in the muck. Jesus Christ is well pleased, I'm sure.

The spirit of contention is of the devil.

You're fat.

My point exactly!

And, MAD's message board should as well.

;)

Well, that's it then. No more participation in the validity of the Gospel or it's doctrines. Looks like I'm limited to derails and loudly proclaiming my testimony at inappropriate times. Sounds like fun.

LOL!

Can u imagine how boring these places would be w'out morons (pardon Mormons).
I don't think Elder Eyring's counsel should be heeded for the sake of morons & ex-morons.

I would rather think for myself than have someone tell me what to think. I would rather read and discuss reality than be held captive by spoon fed pap, half truths and outright lies told and promoted by someone trying to convince me they have 'the truth'.

If you have Truth there is nothing to fear in learning other points of view.

If you are unsure of Truth, how are you to find it if you don't seek information.

"I teach them true principles and they govern themselves' sure does not apply today.

Mahonri:

I would think that is probably a common sentiment. Do you know people who think otherwise?

I would rather read and discuss reality ...

What is "reality" according to you?

If you have Truth there is nothing to fear in learning other points of view.

If you are unsure of Truth, how are you to find it if you don't seek information.

OK

"I teach them true principles and they govern themselves' sure does not apply today.

How so?
