Actually, Dr. Peterson HAS called Will on it in two ways:
He has publicly stated MULTIPLE times now, on both this thread, and the other one I started, that he does NOT approve of the crude types of posts that Will has delivered here.
He also serves as an example of an LDS apologist who can argue positions, and post his opinions without being crude and ugly to others.
Frankly, if Will chooses to ignore both Dr. Peterson's opinion regarding his posts, and his example of posting, then I question Will's respect for Dr. Peterson.
I'm going to go ahead and throw down the bs flag on that one. The talking carcass is very ugly to everyone who doesn't embrace his version of Mormonism. His antagonism and passive-aggressive posting style (and endless yammering) doesn't do anything but enflame hostility. Of course he'll be quick to point out "anti" behavior, but he is, after all, the one who has the onus to turn the chubby cheek, forgive, be long suffering, patient, Christlike, loving, kind, and all those other wonderful platitudes the Mormon church loves to teach.
The bottom line is this: What exactly in the world is an esteemed BYU professor doing inserting himself into the middle of threads like this, boards like this, and into endless tits for tats?
Personally, I love it. I think it's a perfectly appropriate reflection on Mormonism (and what it doesn't do for the human condition), the level of "professionalism" BYU likes to think it posseses, and most importantly, the kind of people Mormonism produces. Remember, the living carcass, Bill, drunk Coggins/MoJoJojo, Counselor Crock-it, and of course the eternally shallow twins LoaP and The Eeyore are part and parcel for the Male Mormon.
And of course any time these knuckleheads would like to stop the ad homs, and focus on content I think it would be great. But... They're pathologically incapable of that, just like they're pathologically incapable of being truthful. It's just in their Mormon nature. I know. I was born and raised in the cult. I was one of them. They can change, but they would have to risk everything to do so, and they're just not going to do it. They have too much to lose, ie, careers, family, community, etc.. So they're angry because that's all they have. That's all they'll ever be.
