Daniel Boyarin, a professor of Talmudic culture at the University of California at Berkeley, said that the stone was part of a growing body of evidence suggesting that Jesus could be best understood through a close reading of the Jewish history of his day.

“Some Christians will find it shocking — a challenge to the uniqueness of their theology — while others will be comforted by the idea of it being a traditional part of Judaism,” Mr. Boyarin said.
This is a ridiculous comment. The New Testament cites many Old Testament passages as pointing toward Christ. What would parallels be a threat to Christians?

The discovery sounds like one that should please most Christians. From the reports, I'm pretty gratified at it. And not even slightly "shocked" or disturbed.

The way the piece itself is worded bothers me. I also don't see how this would shake or shock Christians. At all.

Can someone enlighten me in that regard?

I always keep my skeptical tin-foil hat on with reports like this. Too many "If and buts" and "needs further examination". What happened to the James Encrypton? Too many of these reports, upon further examination, have fizzled out. Why build hopes up, either way, until more investigation takes place?

Oh opps, there for a moment I swore you were talking about the historicity of the Book of Mormon.

Whether it's Book of Mormon historicity, or some Jesus tablet, I've come to my conclusions from other sources, Boaz. I'm just a bit amused that every little bit of "evidence" is greeted with such fanfare. If I were a betting man, my bets on who would back what could get me rich.

I suspect the reporter was from another faith tradition that thought Christianity was tied to unwavering dogmatism.
