Mister Scratch: A Racist?

Post by _Enuma Elish »

Wow, what a discovery! Friends, I would like to present evidence that when pieced together clearly indicates that our own beloved Mister Scratch struggles with racist views.

I find the fact intriguing, albeit tragic, that MS would select a screen name that reflects the highly racist 19th century view that identifies Satan as a black man.

Note the following from Washington Irvin’s, The Devil and Tom Walker:

"The upshot of all which is, that, if I mistake not," said Tom, sturdily, "you are he commonly called Old Scratch." "The same at your service!" replied the black man, with a half civil nod.

When we take this curious fact and combine it with the following quote posted on this board by MS on Sunday June 22nd, 2008 at 1:20 AM, we clearly see that in fact MS carries, even if only at a subconscious level, a similar view to Mr. Irvin. Note the following statement by MS:

As we have observed. I, however, won't stoop to such a thing. You can go on bragging about how "good" you feel in what you and your "skinny-l" pals have been doing. I get a dark feeling when I read the exchanges, though. A *VERY* dark feeling. Like the Adversary is running the listserve.

Note, "a very dark feeling like the Adversary." How could anyone possibly argue that this amazing connection is a mere coincidence?

David, having hit a wall in his research, finds a way to behave even sillier than Scratch as a joke.

Not just a wall, Brother! It's a solid barrier.

I hear his next published research will contain "SCRATCH IS BUTTHEAD" hidden within the text! ;)
"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."

Oh, no Rollo. The acrostic reads, "SCRATCH IS BEAVIS," and it's scheduled to appear in the Journal of Biblical Literature.

You have my sympathies. I have been there. And it brought me here.

Scratch struggles with a number of intellectual, ethical, moral, and psychological problems, but whether racism is among them I know not.
Nothing is going to startle us more when we pass through the veil to the other side than to realize how well we know our Father [in Heaven] and how familiar his face is to us

- President Ezra Taft Benson

I am so old that I can remember when most of the people promoting race hate were white.

Sounds like he is a human being.

I'll take that as a joke. I don't particularly like people who easily demote others from the ranks of humanity in seriousness.
