The truth of the matter is the market place is completely and totally amoral. Corporations will do whatever will maximize profits. It is the true heart of capitalism, which Droopy should appreciate.
If you want to gauge America's true thoughts about something like homosexuality--watch the big corporations like Disney, Walmart and McDonalds. They will only follow the money which means they have more to gain by supporting one side over the other.
1% to 3% of the population? Hardly. Homosexuals as a group are quite affluent and successful, and don't need seed money from McDonald's to start buninesses. Let them start businesses the way heterosexuals start them, with good credit.
I won' be waiting for Goodk to cry "discrimination!" when she realizes that Mormons can't get special gifts from Micky Ds to start a LDS bookstore, because Goodk's deep social conscience is highly selective in its application.
I think the group they are playing to is not just practicing homosexuals, but anyone who empathizes with them and believes they should have equal rights under the law. That group is much larger than 3% and in all likelihood, is the majority. It definitely is the majority for the target demographic of McDonald's.
Not to beat a dead horse, but weren't these same threats made 40 years ago, except replacing "homo" with "nigger"??
People disgust me. And, no, it's not the "homo" people. Although I'm not sure these bigots would even classify the "homos" as people.
Yes, but being black is an inherent and immutable characteristic, while homosexual behavior is learned and cultivated and the Gay subculture precisely that - a culture, not a colony of fungus.
Some people are eventually going to have to decide what they want to be when they intellectually and morally grow up.
Nothing is going to startle us more when we pass through the veil to the other side than to realize how well we know our Father [in Heaven] and how familiar his face is to us

I am so old that I can remember when most of the people promoting race hate were white.

Having a southern accent is not an inheret and immutable characteristic either, but that doesn't make it okay to discriminate against southerns.

Homosexuals presently have precisely the same rights I and everybody else has in our constitutional Republic, and nothing more can be done for them in that wise.
What you are talking about is not rights, as constitutionally and Declarationally understood but cultural licensure, which are not rights but simply judicially or legislative dispensations extended to special interest groups seeking cultural rent.

There is no discrimination against homosexuals. Redefining marriage to include homosexual relationships by definition means the complete conceptual destruction of the the institution, and, not to put too fine a point on it, the destruction of heterosexual, monogamous marriage and the family structure predicated upon it means the destruction of civil society.
The majority, whether liberal or conservative, have every right and obligation to oppose any such assault on the fundamental institution of society. All equality is not gold, and all discrimination is not lead.

For those that don't know what the boycott is over, a vice president of McDonald's USA accepted an offer to sit on the board of directors for The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. McDonald's also donated 20,000 dollars to the organization.
The boycott is being organized by the same group that called for a boycott on Wal*Mart for selling Brokeback Mountain in its stores and Ford for advertising their products in gay magazines.
For the benefit of Droopy, here is a more extensive list of corporate partners of The NGLCC:
Presumably, you will be boycotting all of them, right? I just hope the computer you are using to post on this message board doesn't have any Intel products in it. Almost every major banking institution is on board, so you might need to do some serious reorganizing of your finances.

Ha!
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

I used to think this. I do not know anymore. Is homosexuality learned? Take an active LDS 16 year old who thinks he may be homosexual. He is a wonderful young man. Smart, talented, bright, everything you would want to see in an LDS youth. He is quite liked by the young women as well. His family is a good solid family and I see nothing at least on the outside that would indicate problems in the home that could drive this. He is worried about what life will be for him as an LDS person with same gender attractions. He seems to not want this and is really horrified by it. He believes that to be in the CK he must be married in the temple. Do you really think this is learned behavior? He has not acted, as far as I know, on Now maybe he is mixed up for some reason. I do not know. But I think it highly unlikely that he is really choosing this.
Same for another person I know who is 22. Similar situation and is from a country and culture that is more anti gay than anything in the US.
I am pretty sure the Church does not even take the position that this is learned or even a conscience choice for many anymore.
Hey. This isn't funny. If he is on any of the pharmaceuticals Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, or Merck controls he might have to choose between health and giving in to the homo-queers.

It most certainly doesn't. Elder Holland's recent article on the subject in the Ensign should dispel any doubts to the contrary... if read with anything like an open mind on the issue.
