Campaign to reinstate J Goledn Kimball as P+S+R
Golden has been spinning in his grave so much lately you'd be surprised theres not a loud thumping sound emanating from his place of interment.

Going by past experience, further concessions about unique Mormon doctrines are (in my estimation) about to be further cemented. There has been a push as of late for traditional religious opponents to come and talk with the Mormons, in order to clear up all those silly notions about multiple wives and whatnot.
No no, expect the Mormons to come and play the toady, whooping it up about those strange and evil bunch of nutters down in texas, panning a blind eye over the ones down the street and in Dixie. All the while demanding pats on the back for the twisted sense of reality that emanates from Mormonism.
What Mouw fails to see is the impact of the social downside of Mormonism and in the end focuses of silly stupid beliefs, the window dressing to an organization that has complete families by the balls, and misses the impact Mormonism has on ones ability to feel secure and at peace. One could say that it is Mouw's own faith that prevents him from seeing past the trees.

He would have cussed and swore at those who would water down "the lords gospel". No, he would not have gone along with the PR centric approach currently favored by MormonCorp.

I think there are some misconceptions about our doctrine by evangelicals, but by and large, I think the main problem is the fact that our doctrine and theirs are simply different, ours being Biblical and theirs not.

That's a hoot given the LDS attacks on the Bible. It was amazing on ZLMB to read LDS assert that faith was a work.bcspace wrote:I think there are some misconceptions about our doctrine by evangelicals, but by and large, I think the main problem is the fact that our doctrine and theirs are simply different, ours being Biblical and theirs not.

Richard Mouw and Robert Millet have had numerous meetings and discussions about how to bridge the gap between the evangelical and Mormon community. They wrote a book to gether entitled "A Different Jesus ?" which is a great read. Its available at Deseret Book.

Its more than a different Jesus. Its a different system of belief entirely.
Your example of Mouw and Millet is one of isolated individuals trying to capitalize on Mormonism. Sure, it would be nice if EV's and LDS played together but don't hold your breath. Green aprons and magic underwear are as far from christianity as you can get. And don't go dragging out the silly attempts at drawing paralells to far off historical accounts.

The LDS are as biblical as the FLDS are Mormon.
Your statement that LDS are the TRUE biblical faith is not only laughable but grossly untrue. The EV's in all of their retardedness hold to the Bible steadfast where as you Mormons pick and choose. The EV's pick and choose, sure. But Mormons are by default not biblical as they have no true solid foundation in biblical christianity. Mormonism is an amalgam of 18th century backwoods mysticism, freemasonry and poorly constructed analogs of biblical scripture. They throw the Bible in at the end but also leave in a clause removing indemnification to biblical doctrine, "as far as its translated correctly". Sad.
