I love this quote, Sethbag! Pity it's too long to include in my signature. I completely agree with you.
Hammer stated once that he had spoken with Joseph Smith face to face, and then quickly apologized for casting such a sacred thing before swine. But he continued to make all sorts of sly references that he knew some inside information (impending doom and destruction mainly). So depending on how you value claims about seeing dead people, the man is either crazy/deluded or close to being the next prophet. that's a very fine line.

Oh, sure there is. It is defined by whom you are related to, and whether you have a professional degree or not.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

And, at least in my world, how much time you're willing to take away from your family in order to climb the food chain. Those who put their families first don't climb very high.

There's a lot of truth in that. A PhD that professes communication with a deity gets a pass while a homeless person who professes communication with a deity is assumed delusional. What strikes me as odd is the credibility people generally give to someone who has a doctorate when it comes to matters of spirituality; as if metaphysical matters could be quantified in any sort of respectable way.

Sorry, but I disagree, Seth. Would you be as angry at someone who claimed that Thor will punish the earth for its sins?
I didn't say I'd be angry, but I'd regard him as a butthead religious zealot - particularly if he not only predicted our eternal punishment by Thor, but actually seemed almost to revel in it.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I honestly don't know what to make of him. He does seem to enjoy the prospect of our eternal misery, doesn't he? But he's so completely clueless and lacking in self-awareness it's hard to feel anything but pity for him.

Ditto... which makes me wonder, where has he been?
