Thanks for finding this Boaz & L.

I can't believe that FAIR would take a stand against someone's sincere and positive testimony of the gospel. Well I can, as others and myself have pointed out many times, the only reason why FAIR doesn't brutally attack other faiths is because Mormonism is still a small fish and there aren't many groups that take "Mormon specific" ideas and "twist" them. They don't understand, they can't see how the Book of Mormon and interpretations of the Bible as predicting Joseph Smith aren't stepping on the toes of Christianity. And why they get called on it. But they do understand why the interpretations of other LDS or groups like the Sealed Portion need to be attacked with force and mocked. Because these people step on their toes the same way the church steps on the toes of Christianity. They'll never make the connection, though, and continue their special pleading for their own cause as different.

What FAIR wants basically, is no such thing as doctrine or LDS beliefs period. They don't want to have anything that could ever be shown wrong or problematic. Yes, they have their own pet theories, but they make sure to qualify them a thousand times over first.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Prophet: Where did the Book of Mormon take place?
God: Mesoamerica, or Northern USA.

LOL. I'm not sure that that answer really solves the problem, TD.

But at least it rules out Ostler's island theory and the Malay peninsula theory!

LOL! Opps... I meant:

God: Mesoamerica

Or

God: Northern America.

:-)

There, that would solve the problem! LOL!

Yay! I've had a revelation! Give me 5000 bucks to publish it, and if you don't God will be angry with you. Turn over your property to me, I mean God, I mean what's the difference anyway, and, by the way, your wife would be nice to.

The Dude wrote:So why is it that Wyatt is going to battle against Meldrum now, instead of giving him a pass like he did for Stewart? I think I know what the difference is: David Stewart was a FAIR contributor. He spoke at their conference, he published his work on their website, and he gave them financial support. But Ron Meldrum is a maverik, a vigilante apologist who does not work through FAIR or share his wealth of intellectual insight (so to speak) and financial rewards. So he must be stopped. The FAIR hegemony is threatened. I think it would be different if Meldrum worked through the system instead of touring on his own. His ideas about Lamanite DNA aren't that much different from David Stewart's, or FARMS apologist John Tvednes, for that matter.

I think you have something there, although I doubt they are consciously doing it for that reason.

Meldrum is their only competition. He has attracted a substantial following in a very short period if time.

And thus we see, yet again, that the purpose of FAIR is not to defend Mormonism. It's purpose is to defend Mormon apologetics.

Maybe now they can figure out who they're defending against. It's kinda hard to take them seriously when they spend as much time arguing with the members as they do arguing with the anti's.

With members like you Harmony, can you blame them?
