Go back to the main thread, and take a good look at who gives one. The entire exmo and countermo termite mound is buzzing with activity morally slamming Bob and DCP for there alleged terrible conduct in this matter.

And then we see who really caused all the hurt and ill feelings. And then we see...the truth. Suddenly, Goodk's sanctimonious posturing looks more and more to be...sanctimonious posturing.

I am withholding my opinion on GoodK's post, and the subsequent bruhaha, but I will comment on your comment if only to say that I don't think atheists have a monopoly on insensitivity.

Have you never heard a theist attributing someone's misfortune to a lack of faith, a sin or misdeed on their part, or some other divine influence? This isn't an excuse for any insensitivity on GoodK's part, but just a note that the insensitivity probably wasn't rooted in his particular religious attitude (or lack thereof), but probably indicated nothing more than his manners (or lack thereof) independent of his belief in a god.

But I wonder how the situation would be different if, instead of discussing an LDS family, we were discussing a family of Jehovah's Witnesses where the daughter had died because they refused a life-saving blood transfusion? Or the family of a Christian Scientist who died as a result of refusing all medical treatment and totally relied on divine power? I wonder if our offense at Goodk's thoughts are colored by the degree to which we share the beliefs of his family.

I want to ask him why God decided to give this poor girl such a horrible disease, or why the priesthood blessings didn't cure her outright, and so on...

Everyone asks these questions at one time or another in their lives. Evidently it's a non-issue for you now. GoodK doesn't agree with what you've accepted (and neither do I).

I feel like maybe GoodK (and I) seem to be suffering by comparison here. You sound pretty confident, but don't you ever get tired of your cape getting snagged on all sorts of things?

I've healed and been healed. At one time in my life this type of event was as natural as going for a walk. It worked most of the time.

Even then, I thought it rediculous the frenzied attempts of my priesthood holding peers to administer multiple times. To me, it demonstrated faithlessness, or lack of a connection. Jesus said his Father doesn't listen any better because of our much speaking.

God isn't a teenager. You shouldn't have to ask (or command) more than once. If he is a teenager, well, that would explain a lot of things, wouldn't it?
