I don't think you can say that Jesus "advocated" drowning child molesters in the sea (i.e. - And if any of you molest a child, drown that person in the ocean"). He said it would be better for them (the molester) that they die then waiting for God's punishment in the afterlife. I consider that a significant difference. He wasn't commanding or authorizing anyone to actually go out and drown the molester. Now don't get me wrong, I personally loathe child molesters and there is a strong possibility I would take things into my own hands should something like that befall one of my kids. However, I don't think you can use this to make Jesus "less loving" and you are trying to do.

I think there is a general consensus among Biblical commentators that Jesus advocated in one way or another the drowning of child molesters. Maybe not rising up immediately and throwing them into the sea, but contending that they would be better off if they were thrown into the sea is hardly much of a difference.

If I made a comment like, "gays would be better off if they were castrated" you can very well assume that I would be advocating such an atrocity. (Which, of course in my libertarian way, I am not. Live and let live.)
