I just can't take it. I sure hope Gaz is an enigma in my Church and that there are not many who harbor such radical ideas. I have to run now. I guess every religion has them.

When I see types like Gaz I could agree quickly with Harris and Dawkins. How sad this is.

Just think how atheists feel!!

Here's the problem - supposedly moderates are supposed to reign in these gaz types... but they're impervious to reigning in by anyone. They're so convicted that God is on their side, they won't listen even to the moderates in their own religion.

Now, maybe if the PROPHET himself addressed this attitude, they'd listen, but who are we kidding? No religious leader would touch this with a ten foot pole.

It really does make me despair for this world's future.

I see another problem - not only are moderates unable to reign in these Gaz types, but they shield the Gaz types from the public scrutiny they deserve. It is hard to call Gaz's religion what it really is - and legislate against what sort of hate and insanity he brainwashes his children with - when there are genuinely good people who are members of that same religion.

That's a good question and I guess one way to answer it would be to talk first about mormonismS rather than Mormonism. But I can't absolve Mormonism entirely of the sin of producing Gaz's ideas, yet I wouldn't want to reduce it to them either.

But that's not why I'm posting. I had addressed something to Gaz in a recent post that I wrote before I read this thread. Now I need a unicorn chaser. Good grief that was just completely evil. And ignorant in a way that would be laughable under other circumstances. For example: lesbian = dildo user. Uh, no. With arguments lodged at such a basic level of wtf? its hard to even address them, even if they comprise some of the most disgusting filth I've ever read, "ideas" which, as GoodK points out, desperately need to be confronted.

However, at the moment I'm just sickened.

Jesus altered the coin so it comes out with Mercy on top.

Gaz's idea of blood atonement is adrift even in a sea of religious conservatism. It is more in line with the Reverend Phelps than Mormonism.

My apologies to everyone, but I promised the wife I'd spend time with her tonight, be back tommorow.

Might want to inform her tonight that you'd drown your gay offspring if it were legal.

Last I checked, tossing them on the street wasn't legal either.

Hopefully daddy won't find out till they're 18. I'm sure they'd be fine on the streets after that.

Seriously, I hope gaz's wife knows about his attitude. It is not impossible that he ends up with a gay offspring.
