Whoa there, hold on a second. Are you non-anonymous in other venues, such as the print media? How else would they have discovered where you live?

I sure hope that you haven't been ferreted out by your writings on this board, 'cause if so, then they're far, far more technologically sophisticated than I thought, since even I can't possibly discover anyone's in real life information.

No, it didn't have anything to do with this board. I sort of assume that one of my TBM family members or one of the people from my old ward "outed" me. I'd prefer not to get into too many details about it. DCP is already practically frothing at the mouth with glee at the possibility of my having been made to suffer.

Right.

Mwahahahahaha!

I'm known far and wide for my malevolent glee at the suffering of others.

I really believe it is the case, I'm afraid, Dan---based both on my personal experience with you, and in watching the way you have treated others over the years. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Additionally, I've been privy to some of the Skinny-L conversations, and you guys just aren't very nice at all.

Maybe you do and maybe you don't.

Honestly, I can't tell, in your case, how much of what you profess to be upset by is playacting and how much is genuine paranoia.

Mister Scratch wrote:based both on my personal experience with you

Uh huh. You've been sweetness, light, and charity, while I've just been a brute.

Mister Scratch wrote:and in watching the way you have treated others over the years.

Right. You've watched me take delight in the infliction of pain and suffering?

Has this been solely on message boards, or have you also watched me via field glasses?

Mister Scratch wrote:Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You're wrong.

No you haven't.

Actually, we're a pretty decent, good-humored bunch. Your delicious fantasies about us are quite far from the mark.

You know, it's really funny. For all your comments about "creepy dossiers" and the like, the truth is that you and your SHIELDS pals established precedent for this years ago. In fact, the SHIELDS "Critics Corner", still up after all these years, is where you guys actually outed private email correspondence, including people's in real life names. In fact, one person was so upset by your hounding that she said you were "stalking" her. How about that?

I find it very telling that you were "outed". Sounds like you might have been involved in some sinister activities that may have caused someone to want to expose you. I can only assume (until you prove otherwise with documentation) that you were lying to the family members in question or outing their secrets to their leaders.

SHIELDS has never posted private e-mail correspondence. SHIELDS has posted some of my correspondence, with my permission.

Who was that? Can you give me a URL?

It's not true.

Did you get permission from the other parties? E.g., SusieQ, Infymus, or James White? Somehow I rather doubt it.

It is archived in Gary Novak's portion of SHIELDS. Perhaps I'll look for it later.

I asked several friends about the ethical and legal issues involved in posting both sides of a conversation. They saw no problem. Upon consultation and reflection, I decided that it was appropriate to go ahead.

But the specific cases you mention are interesting:

In the case of SusieQ, I watched her mischaracterize our exchange for roughly a year on the so-called "Recovery" board, telling her gullible marks there that I had initiated the correspondence between us (out of the blue, no less) and describing my treatment of her as brutal and vicious. I, of course, could not respond there, but I decided that I had had more than enough of her false accusations. So I asked the folks at SHIELDS if they would be williing to post the entire conversation, unedited and unmodified, so that the truth would be on record. I feel good about that.

James White routinely posts his correspondence. He posted this correspondence, albeit (as he often does) in truncated form. I had SHIELDs post the entire correspondence, complete and unchanged. I feel fine about it.

If I hurt poor Infymus's delicate feelings, I'm heartily sorry. I thought readers might find it instructive to read some of the insulting things he had written to me about my wife, as well as (of course) about myself. It might also, for what little it's worth, give them some sense of what it's like, all too often, to be me.
