Damn. Well alright. If you want the true secret to making a kickass website, you must black it out. That's right. Black is the color to turn an awesome website into a kickass awesome website [such as with silentkid's blog] or in lesser cases a crappy website into a less crappy website [~evidence:mine]. Other than that, well porn. But since you ruled out that...better black it out.

Hey Beastie... your site looks great!

KUDOS for putting it together.

I think it would be helpful for the average reader to have a question/answer page/link.

It could look something like this:

Were there horses in Mesoamerica during Book of Mormon times?

You could give a one sentence response then link to more information.

Did the Maya have written language two thousand years ago?

Short response then link.

I know this would be a lot of work. I just have the impression (instinct actually) that some folks may not take the time to read the whole site. If there were some clear and brief answers with links they may be more apt to spend the time to read all the information you have provided.

I'm still thinking a blog would be great. ;-)

I'd like this website to have that ability when your cursor is resting over a topic, it previews it. I hate having to click on a thread to decide whether or not I hate it.

Ok, I'm opening the floor again to suggestions on making my website more readable. I know I will hate myself for doing it, because I really hate fooling with the tech side of my website, mainly due to the fact that my tech ignorance ensures that every change will be as painful as possible. My goal isn't to make my website look like a professional designed it, but I do realize that I could probably make it easier to access and read. But there are a couple updates I need to make, anyway, so might as well bite the bullet.

So what should I do? Should I divide up the longer pages so you keep clicking to put the next subsection on a new page?

I will ask in advance that everyone excuse my inevitable whining and complaining and saying "But I can't figure out HOW to do that". It's beyond my control. ;)

My only comment would be about navigation; you might consider some type of sidebar or menu system that allows people to get to other sections without going back to the main page. Also, you could add "Previous" and "Next" pointers at the top and bottom of each page so people can read through the entire site more fluidly.

Seconded. Preferably sidebar.

Also, maybe some div left-right constraints on the main text blocks. On my 24" monitor the lines go on and on and on. Margins would be appreciated.

Otherwise, I think you've already cleaned up any prior complaints I might have had.

My brain has already gone into panic mode. I have no idea how to do most of the stuff you guys suggest - some I don't even know WHAT it is? Black it out??? What does that mean? A black background? Or is it some joke I'm too old to get???

Remember, I'm 51 years old, when I was a little girl, we only had three stations on our TV set, for gawd's sake. I didn't get color TV and cable till I was 12 years old!! And I didn't grow up with a computer and a cell phone!! You all are talking gibberish!!! My daughter has to show me how to use my cell phone whenever I get a new one!! I am the old geezer the commercials make fun of!!!

Get a cursor to preview it???? Yeah, and I'll just beam up on to my spaceship now, too. :O
