Question for Keane

Post by _moksha »

Is there any way to have links open up a new window, so this site can still stay open?

Middle-click on the link, it will open in a new tab behind this one.

That's assuming he is using a modern browser like Firefox which supports tabbed browsing.

With a question like that, I'd assume he is still using IE 5 or 6.

I switched from IE 6 to 7 a few weeks ago. I did not have this problem with the previous format. Never heard of a middle click.

Use Firefox ferchrissakes.

CONTROL-CLICK a link and it opens in a new "tab".

:P Like it says in the FAQ, get firefox. It's just sexy. IE7 will use tabs as well, but it's just... poopy.

The middle click -- the scroll wheel on your mouse can actually be pushed down like a button. Clicking on any link with that will pop the link open in a new tab, behind the one you're browsing on. It gets extremely useful when you want to open a bunch of links at once, since none of them will take the focus away from you.

Mok, just my $.02, IE any version is a dinosaur, give FireFox a try.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

Firefox sucks ass!!

1/2 of the plugins don't work, and if they do, you have to search for them and install them manually.

Plus, my CSS that works flawlessly in IE doesn't work worth crap in FF.

Stick to IE.

I should ban you for that.

IE's CSS does not work with the accepted standards across the industry, they make up their own crap to remain proprietary -- it's a downright evil marketing practice. Firefox's plugins are open source, but most aren't even close to necessary for normal browsing. If you have a buggy plugin, blame the plugin authors, not firefox.

I have Firefox 3 and I like it, but it lacks the IEspell add-on that I have come to rely on.

I think there is something about the code on this site that could be modified so that links open in a new window. Perhaps a box has gone unchecked or something. That is how it works at Beliefnet and LDSnet.

by the way, if you want to see a truly feature laden site, look at LDSnet. The use the same software (whatever that is) as Bnet, but have more bells and whistles activated.
