It's summer. Give him a break. Maybe he doesn't like golf. (Smart man!)

Ah, if we could only put a worm on a hook and dangle it in some pristine lake as we make our posts.

200 posts? Good for him!

Jersey,

I read Scratch's posts very carefully and I also read most of Trevor's posts. I do see what's going on here on the board. And you will probably not be able to change my mind. And as I said, I will not get involved on the "itchy" issues as it will force me to take sides.

You mentioned mentioned you are sick of Scratch's threads and his "conspiracy" theories. But I have to point out that there is only a single Scratch thread still going on page one. So if that's not your thing, there are plenty of other threads to get involved in. One could simply ignore Scratch.

Do you think for instance, that if Scratch disappeared, that Dr. Peterson would still post here frequently? That he would all of a sudden begin posting his deepest thoughts on religion?
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

You are mistaken if you are thinking that I'm trying to change your mind. I'm giving my opinion of and reaction to your responses. I've been reading you for years and have never seen you contort yourself as you do in the posts where you lend support to Scratch. That's what bothers me, that's what I stated.

Yes, I'm sick of Scratch's threads and yes, there is only one at the present time. However, this very thread that we're posting on is a spin off of that thread. It goes on and on and on. The comments regarding Scratch's "theories" are not confined to one thread. Most people do ignore Scratch.

The comments I made regarding guns, education and Itchy are examples of Scratch's spin and lack of integrity. They are nothing more than that and certainly not an invitation to you to discuss each issue. They are examples as I clearly stated in the post itself.

Do I think if Scratch disappeared that Daniel would cease posting? You're joking, right? This is the ONLY place Scratch has the ability to engage him, Gad. Scratch disappearing isn't even a possiblity. So long as he posts twisted trash, I'll continue to point out where it's twisted when I see it and when I feel compelled to do so. Not everyone on this board is as gullible as Scratch might wish.

May I answer this?

No, I almost certainly wouldn't post here as frequently if Scartch weren't constantly maligning me here. For some reason, I'm occasionally inclined to deny accusations that I'm a racist, a liar, a smear-monger, a mercenary, a pseudo-scholarly hack, an anti-Semite, a vicious brute, an unethical swine, a religious bigot, and so forth. Absent those, I wouldn't post as much.

And no, I surely wouldn't begin posting my deepest thoughts on religion here if Scartch went away. I don't post my deepest thoughts on religion on any message board. If you want my deepest thoughts on religion, read what I publish. Or attend my presentations for the Maxwell Institute, at the annual meeting of the Society for Mormon Philosophy and Theology, and etc.

I think Dan enjoys the intellectual stimulation of conflict. To put a more positive "spin" on it, it's the principle of "opposition in all things". I think he sees any challenge to his beliefs (or his integrity) as one worth taking on, hence possibly sees more challenges here than on MADB, where he isn't challenged as much.

But let's be consistent. Why poke at him for posting here so much? When he doesn't he's called a coward, and when he does people want to complain that he hasn't got a life? Fair go. Why make everything so personal?

Why make it personal? Because that's all some people have here, Ray. God forbid any truth should bleed through the fog of innuendo on this board. I have to say, on principle alone, there's no way in hell that I'd leave Daniel twisting in the wind here while others who claim they were gullible as members now gullibly fall for Scratch's spin and innuendo as ex-members.

Joey wrote:Well I haven't been around this board for almost two weeks - went to Maui for some golf, fishing and Mai Tai's with wife and kids. (Kapalua was fantastic but not kind to my putter!)

Anyway, I was just perusing the L Skinny thread and couldn't help but notice Peterson's response to Scratch where he ends with:

"Or better yet, get a life".

Now this is the same guy who just two weeks ago self complained about spending too much time here, supposedly participating in threads and answering questions that were apparently beneath him.

Well in less than two weeks Peterson has racked up over 200 posts here and seems to spend as much time on this board as anywhere else in "his" life.

For a guy who claims to be so involved in academics and editing and publishing works, he's got thousands and thousands of posts on message boards in the past twelve months. He has declared retirement from these boards more times than Michael Jordan did from sports.

It just raises a few obvious observations/questions:

Does he really have a job at BYU or is his time here it?

Are there so few people that sign up for the class he teaches that it is only given once every couple of semesters?

Does FARMS remain so ignored, as he has previously stated, that it can only generate "quantity" as opposed to "quality"?

Is he really into damage control on this board for all the trouble he has gotten himself into that he has committed to the church to spend as much time here as he has?

At any rate, it seems obvious where "his life" is!

Anyway, here some advice for him, try getting into excercise, activities or something away from a computer screen.

We can only live in hope. Potentially very interesting discussions loom large, but some seem more focused on Kripsy Kremes.

I care and I miss you and your posts Canucklehead. I was thinking about you the other day wondering why you weren't posting much.

Look, don't try to suck me into the "Mozart blew his nose" debate, Ray. ;-) Very interesting discussions could take place, I suppose, were it not for the personal mud slinging and innuendo that serves only to distract from genuine topic.

Now don't bother me any more, Pacino calls.
