Since you are the one calling yourself these names, not other members of the forum, I guess this becomes one of those rare examples where a conversation really is a one-way street.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

You've got to be kidding.

Every single one of those accusations comes from Master Scartch himself.

I just have to smile every time I see Peterson and Skinny used in the same sentence. Sorry Doc it just plain tickles my funny bone. Priceless.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

Now, this isn't true at all. Or, if it is, it involves some very strange logic. Let's take the "racist" example. I defy you to supply a single example of me ever directly stating, "DCP is a racist." The fact is that you just aren't going to be able to find such an utterance. Now, if you want to claim that I have somehow called you a "racist" by implication, then we will have to descend into matters of semantics. Thus, according to your logic, advising some young people about all the "inherent problems" associated with interracial marriage would constitute "racism," and you would therefore be a racist. Do *I* personally think that you are a racist for having doled out such un-PC advice? No, not really. But hey---this is your logic we are talking about, not mine.

True, unlike the likes of Peterson, I do have a very fulfilling life outside of message boards. I spend far more time outdoors, with my family and traveling than I could in front of a computer screen.

But I find this guy Peterson so hung up on himself that he needs to take what he gives to others. I know far more about the LDS Church than I lead on and know more about what insiders think of him than he knows. If you want to get to the inside of the LDS Church, a financial angle will yield far more results than being temple worthy!!

But it is, at the end of the day, not worth spending any material time in these boards if you have more interesting and productive things to do.

On style alone, he runs circles around the apologists. And some of them aren't bad at all in their presentation. He's a true professional.

If you mean better than the apologists at doing what scratch accuses apologists of doing, I heartily agree; scratch is much better at dodging real issues, citing irrelevant information, not being peer reviewed, and engaging in massive amount of ad hominem, etc. In that regard, then, scratch is high above the apologists. Yes, so hiiii-ee-yi-eye! High above them.

One thing I do respect is his journalistic integrity. He's never revealed any sources to me nor has he ever let slip gossip that was provided in confidence.

As a journalist (former news editor, published reporter, and former member of the society of professional journalists [spj] I would not classify scratch as being in the possession of much journalistic integrity or hey, even style, quality, or method. Unless, and I honestly mean this, you include tabloid journalism.

The Internet Mormon's M.O.:

1) Declare anti-Mormons are rude, then act rudely.

2) Declare anti-Mormons have no life, then spend life on anti-Mormon boards.

3) Declare anti-Mormons are stupid, then believe in Mormonism.

4) Ignore fellow Mormons' bad behavior, then point out all perceived slights against self or other Mormons.

5) Stomp foot, and exit in a huff. Come back. Repeat when embarrassed.

6) Ignore logic or doctrinal issues and engage in ad hom and red herrings. Get mad if someone follows suit.

That you "have a life" wasn't the point of the remark. That you don't know what goes on, on this board was the point.

May I answer this?

No, I almost certainly wouldn't post here as frequently if Scratch weren't constantly maligning me here. For some reason, I'm occasionally inclined to deny accusations that I'm a racist, a liar, a smear-monger, a mercenary, a pseudo-scholarly hack, an anti-Semite, a vicious brute, an unethical swine, a religious bigot, and so forth. Absent those, I wouldn't post as much.

Well, it is good you two have achieved a mutually symbiotic relationship even if it is not amiable.

If you want my deepest thoughts on religion, read what I publish. Or attend my presentations for the Maxwell Institute, at the annual meeting of the Society for Mormon Philosophy and Theology, and etc

This is excellent progress.

Let's make the situation very clear by your responding to a pair of related propositions:

"I, Mister Scratch, have no reason to regard Daniel Peterson as a racist." Yes [ ] No [ ]

"I, Mister Scratch, have no reason to regard Daniel Peterson as an anti-Semite." Yes [ ] No [ ]

When you've clearly responded to these two propositions, we can move on to other areas.
