Re: Unbelievable... seriously!

Post by _truth dancer »

In one of the comments, a poster wrote that his family member gave 15,000 dollars to the cause, what was to be a down payment on their house and guess what... no house.

:-(

But who knows...

I have proof that my cat is magical.

I pet her often and a few times a month money appears in my checking account.

No, I am not kidding. It is true!

;-)

What's unscientific about it?

Go reread my post. If you have even a high schooler's awareness of science, you'll figure it out. Just for starters, of course.

I did read your post but apparently you failed to read mine. The experiment has been replicated, so the question remains, how many successful experiements must be performed before it is known there is something to it?

The reasons why this is not "scientific" are painfully obvious to anyone with even a cursory awareness of science - and that group clearly excludes you. There is no way to control for bias, there is no clear formula to follow because it's all vague and subjective, and there is no way to measure the results.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

I'm pretty sure BC is teasing.

Right?

RIGHT?

Which just shows that you do not know how to apply science.

There is no way to control for bias,

Among the success stories, what variety of prior beliefs (or lack thereof) exist and what are their percentages?

there is no clear formula to follow because it's all vague and subjective,

The ten commandments (for example) are vague and subjective?

and there is no way to measure the results.

No sampling has been done? No one has ever declared their belief or success in following this experiment? Are you sure?

I don't think that would be dangerous at all, I'd think it would be fantastic progressive work. So long as the "squaring" had been presented to fellow scientists in a peer-reviewed venue. Hell, if you could really square science with Mormon doctrine, then stand up now and claim your Nobel Prize, you deserve it.

But, sadly, I think the issue is, that just like all the born-again Christian cranks who might also be scientists who think they've squared science with charismatic Christianity, the only ones you've squared it too are fellow Mormons, and most of them probably net even scientists or otherwise qualified to assess your work themselves.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

OK, BC, are you telling us you really believe that because this guy gave a significant amount of money to help with prop 8, God gave him his house?

And if he hadn't given the money God would not have given him the house?

Please tell me you don't actually believe this.

No, tell us the truth.

Here I am. But I've hardly had to do anything at all but show how easy it is to see that apparent conflicts aren't really conflicts.

But, sadly, I think the issue is, that just like all the born-again Christian cranks who might also be scientists who think they've squared science with charismatic Christianity,

I think we can both agree that those are not scientists.

the only ones you've squared it too are fellow Mormons, and most of them probably net even scientists or otherwise qualified to assess your work themselves.

One must first find a potential conflict to square with. Some here on this board tried to find one in evolution but couldn't do it.

He believes it. It matches other testimonies. Who am I to argue? Of course this could all be a strawman set up for you guys to knock down, but that doesn't cancel similar and real testimonies.
