Then why would you bring them into the discussion at all? I defer to your "apparent" knowledge of them to draw any comparisons, favorable or unfavorable, to the writing style of FARMS articles I referred to.

Because, since you plainly can't endure academic writing, I thought I'd talk about something more on your level. Should I have gone lower? (I didn't want to be insulting.)

Joey wrote:It's why such works are, as you specifically pointed out, "ignored".

Boys and girls who do not read books at all do not know if those books are bad or hard or not. If they do not read those books, they do not know what those books are like. So, if they do not know what those books are like, they can not say "No, I do not read those books since they are bad" since if they do not know what those books are like, they do not know if those books are good or bad or not. See? I will try to write real small words and make this clear to you. If I use words that are too big, please tell me. I do not want you to get bored. If some boy or girl has not seen a book it makes no sense to say that that boy or girl has not seen that book since that book bored that boy or girl. The book can not bore that boy or girl if that boy or girl has not seen the book at all. This is not hard to grasp.

Have endured academic writings all my life. Perhaps you could refer me to the academic institutions that carry these supposed "academic writings" of Hamblin, Sorenson and Clark on Book of Mormon historicity. Just give me the short list (if there is a list at all!).

Should I have gone lower?

No, the altitude of the articles I read was already too low for limbo!

(I didn't want to be insulting.)

WOW, when did you start this? A new and improved Peterson or a result of you now reading Anthony Robbins!!!!!! Kudos and good luck either way.

Classic Peterson diffusion from the topic (perhaps why it makes no sense as well). My comment was directed at the articles "being ignored" as you have already admitted in the past.

But let's just cut to the chase:

"An expert is someone who has succeeded in making decisions and judgements simpler through knowing what to pay attention to and what to ignore." [Edward De Bono]

The academic communtiy and scholars and experts in history, anthropology and archeaology continue to ignore these works by FARMS and the respective authors.

I let you finish with your final insulting remarks (oops, now there I go not giving you credit in your attempt at turning over a new leaf -- sorry). I have already spent way too much time here today.

You have my pity. I'm sorry it was so tough for you.

Don't try to change the subject, Pal Joey.

Your irrelevant broken record was soporific soon after you first introduced it a few years ago, complete with reference to the illustrious Edward De Bono (whoever he is).

Books and articles and arguments are judged by the quality of their arguments and the cogency of their evidence, not by their popularity or by the number of people who haven't heard of them.

Ignaz Semmelweis, Alfred Wegener, Ibn Khaldun, and Gregor Mendel weren't wrong because nobody paid much attention to them initially, and they didn't become right simply by virtue of becoming popular. For that matter, J. S. Bach was a great composer even before Albert Schweitzer helped to restore his reputation, and W. A. Mozart was a great composer even though he died penniless and was buried in an unmarked grave.

If you think that Sorenson, Clark, and Hamblin are wrong, assemble some evidence and deploy some arguments. Speculating about how widely they're read contributes absolutely nothing to demonstrating whether they're right or wrong. Most best-selling novels are trash. Summer blockbusters rarely win the Oscar for Best Picture.

Peterson, can you act w/ more child-like envy. You are a hoot!

He is considered an expert in thinking. A Rhodes scholar with a Phd from Cambridge. Published 82 books in 41 different languages. Probably not on your level yet so not surprised you don't see or know of him in your circles.

"De Bono argues that most of the problems in thinking are at the perceptual level - that is, that many more mistakes are made by people jumping to the wrong conclusion than by behaving irrationally once all the relevant facts are known."

Now, that type of thinking alone would prevent him from ever publishing at FARMS!

For you, Pal Joey, I'll try.

Joey wrote:He is considered an expert in thinking.

I stand in awe. "An expert in thinking"? Wow.

He may, for all I know, be a peach of a guy.

I really like the illustration behind him in the photo for Wikipedia:

Joey wrote:"De Bono argues that most of the problems in thinking are at the perceptual level - that is, that many more mistakes are made by people jumping to the wrong conclusion than by behaving irrationally once all the relevant facts are known."

I can well believe it. After all, you've given no evidence of knowing many relevant facts, but you've jumped to vast conclusions. So who am I to quarrel with the great Edward de Bono, expert thinker?

Joey wrote:Now, that type of thinking alone would prevent him from ever publishing at FARMS!

I certainly hope you're right. Jumping to the wrong conclusion without knowing the relevant facts is the kind of thinking that, if it has to occur at all, should be limited as much as possible to some people's posts on message boards.

I have had a few cats who have disappeared. I do have one cat right now. I have had this cat for a while now.

Can you describe the cat? And supply your address and your schedule? Is the cat well-fed?

I'm, er, compiling a . . . dossier. Yeah, that's it. I'm compiling a dossier.

It does indeed. It will come after about one or two pages of Journal of Book of Mormon Studies (JBMS) (any volume) for those in the academic community.

Three to five pages gets you a Rip Van Winkle.

Anything after that is probably a coma for those involved in academic institutions other than BYU!!!!

Ergo, De Bono's advice is well practiced in the academic community when it comes to these volumes (JBMS) of work.

You've milked it for all it's worth, Joey, and then some.

And then some more.

And then more still.
