MAD Post on Homosexuals and the gospel

They do not allow me to post topics on the MAD board. Gee, I wonder why they piss themselves everytime I write. But I'm getting a broader understanding that is in fact filling me with greater kindness and compassion. But that will just make them more crazy over there.

Mormon gays might not be offing themselves just because it hurts too much to be marginalized. Perhaps they lost all hope of answering their faith that they love and cannot deny. Pity all the more that these unfortunates are not skillfully introduced to the gospel's power to wrought a mighty change of heart and cleanse us from the natural man and make us rise up new creatures in the regeneration of the power of the Holy Ghost.

It might be that one of the major reasons God sent us into the world with the possibility of undergoing such a radical transformation under his power and grace was to try and fix as many disoriented souls as he possibly could. Who is to deny that with God all things are possible?

But the Mormons do not appreciate or believe in the power of the gospel to truly make us new creatures.
They trust in solid self discipline and following Christ's example rather than apply the atonement as Christ commanded.
Because LDS leadership is unwashed themselves and cannot therefore value the power of Christ's gospel, not only the entire Mormon Gay community is cheated and shortchanged but the whole church goes without what God has made abundant and clear in all witnesses and proclamations of his scriptural gospel.

Personally, I would be quite interested in helping a gay Mormon try and repent right and prove it is possible.
I have a good understanding of what it means to be marginalized and have all manner of evil spoken of me falsely by those closest to me and all the church and all neighbors and family and friends since I first affirmed that I was truly born again like Alma the Younger. I was hated and hated and hated and am still hated and hated and yet hated more.
Just look inside your own hearts right now and realize how much you would like me to vaporize before your eyes.

Well, if it makes you feel any better I don't know who you are. That being said, I thought your post was thoughtful.

I'm not sure what a homosexual needs to change, though. I think they kill themselves precisely because they're told that who they are, fundamentally, is worthless or evil. They're told this by their families. Their community. Their god.

That's why that poor soul killed himself on the steps of the stake center. Because the stake center, in Mormon culture, is the point where Mormon family, culture, and god meet.

I would hope that Mormons had more compassion and understanding than wanting someone who doesn't need to change, to change. What a shame so many human beings have come and gone from this world feeling rejected by the very people who should love and embrace them.

Jacob, are you saying that gay Mormons could turn into heterosexuals if only they would really apply the Atonement of Jesus Christ the way you know they should be doing? And not the way they've already been trying for years to do?

So, it's really their own fault that they're still gay, because they're just not doing it right?

The problem I have with the idea that gays should "repent" of being who they are, and turn into homosexuals by constant focus on, adoration and "acceptance" of, and obedience to Jesus Christ and those who claim to be Jesus's Posse on Earth, is that it doesn't seem to work. Anymore than they could turn heterosexual by invoking Ronald McDonald five times a day and wanting fries with that every time they eat at Mickey D's.

My brother-in-law's former roommate was a gay ex-LDS. I met him a few times. He'd struggled with it for years. He'd been promised in a blessing by his ecclesiastical leader that if he went on a mission and served faithfully he'd come home straight. Didn't work. He repented, read scriptures, prayed, did everything he was supposed to, and wished for his gayness to be removed by Jesus Christ. But for some reason, Jesus H. Christ didn't "will" for his homosexuality to turn into a keen interest in girls, and in the end, for his own sanity, he left the church.

Jacob, are you telling me that if only you could have shown this dude what it really means to accept Jesus H. Christ as his savior, he would have turned into a straight guy?

So you were literally visited by an angel who rebuked you for persecuting the church, and then you were paralyzed for two days until your sins were forgiven?

That's not how it turned out for Alma the Younger, though. In the scriptures, Alma the Younger became the leader of the whole church. Sounds like you're getting screwed.

Vaporized only in the sense that the Great Houdini would come back for the next act.

This is a tough topic for the MAD board. Once again they are being asked to defend the Church when it come down on the wrong side of history. It is tough to come up with arguments that provide boundaries for Christ-like love and must be replaced instead with outright rejection, as well as rendering unto God rights that had formerly been left to Caesar. Enough to make any erudite MADite grumpy.

I should set the stage better for making my point here.
Few there be that find it, is the qualifying phrase about getting it right.

When a ten year old wants to pretend he is creating an atomic bomb by piling up atoms to make his critical mass the net results is no Hiroshima. It is precisely the same results when everyone who has heard about Jesus Christ and that there is something called the gospel and even though in scripture gospel Hiroshima's occur the pretense of every practitioner on the planet towards getting the real gospel of Jesus Christ to effect an ALma THE YOUNGER kind of transformation is like the little kid pretending to make a bomb by piling up dirt.

To comprehend how it works you have to have someone who reallyknows by having accomplished the real thing. And I just think that IF a homosexual was willing to humble himself and was guided as to what it takes to really forsake the world and take upon him the namd of Jesus Christ with full purpose of heart I believe his homosexuality could be wrought upon and changed regardless what causes it.

Having experienced the real thing myself and thereby knowing first hand of the power of God I think it's worth a try. And no I do not think those guys who have already worn themselves out trying to repent of homosexuality are doing it anywheres near right any more than the millions of Mormons and Evangelicals who pretend to it ever even get close. In fact all their arrogance and presumptions bubblize them into a protective sheild of condemnation that will prohibit them worlds without end.
