One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

Hi GoodK

Well, at a minimum they produced world views that made sense to a lot of people at the time.

The two greatest church fathers never tried to reconcile Christianity with another competing religion, did they? Did they try and reconcile their claims with the claims of other rival faiths?
I guess it depends on your definition of reconcile. They obviously believed that Christianity was God’s ultimate revelation. Augustine's second most famous book, The City of God, dealt at length with the claims of paganism. A modern example is Don Richardson’s Peace Child in which this missionary attempted to communicate Christian beliefs to a culture which in most ways was antithetical to it. Colin Chapman’s Christianity on Trial (use the Tyndale version not the inferior Eerdmans one) and Jim Sire’s The Universe Next Door are Christian discussions of the strengths and weakness of other worldviews compared to Christianity.

Even though Christianity today might be tolerant of other branches of Christianity - I have no doubt that the Christian consensus is that Scientology is absolutely wrong. Same with Zoroastrianism.
Christians agree with Zoroastrianism that there is at least one God, judgment, heaven and hell.
