My still-born fallacy, pa rum pum pum pum
My one dull axe to grind, pa rum pum pum pum
Just, please, don't use your mind, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Pseudoarguments, pa rum pum pum pum,
Stunningly dumb.

Popularity, pa rum pum pum pum
That's what makes scholarly, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no clue at all, pa rum pum pum pum
My circle is that small, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Scholars nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
Their snores kept perfect time, pa rum pum pum pum
I flayed my drum at them, pa rum pum pum pum
Got not a crumb from them, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then I sneered at them, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

The quality of arguments and evidence, Joey, isn't measured by their popularity, let alone by counting up the number of people who're unaware of their existence.

I know this is difficult for you to grasp. Perhaps if you tried to picture a poll on quantum physics administered to indigenous residents of the Australian outback, or to imagine a vote among dwellers in rural Swaziland on their satisfaction with inflationary models of the Big Bang, you might be able to come to grips with the concept.

In the meantime, do you like Jane Austen? I'm a big fan.

Your friend,

Dan Peterson

Someone should fold and insert all Prof. Peterson's weekly comments in his ward sacrament meeting schedule.

It's highly unlikely that his ward bulletin is 20+ pages long, so most of them wouldn't have relevance.

Read very little of her works. Mostly in some periodical passing.

Actually, after discussing the works of Clark and Sorenson with some college faculty friends of mine, I was encouraged to start reading Zane Grey. They said it would help me appreciate the works of Clark and Sorenson in that all of them borrow someone else's history to create a beautiful fictional story through comparisons.

Perhaps this will help me with this new work of Welch's?

Or is it just setting me up for digesting Lund's volumes of the Work and Glory!

Anyway, please let us know when the works of CLark and Sorenson in Book of Mormon historicity ever get any attention or become taken seriously by their professional peers and academians.

Thanks in advance. Probably waaaay in advance!

It sounds like an interesting Book. I am now wandering if I can get a special copy of this Book, with Jack Welch's signature on the front Page of it.

"The Little Drummer Boy" a sacred carol? How about a maudlin ditty? I would say that is more like it. Just because it has Jesus in it doesn't make it a sacred carol.

Strrrrrrrrrrretch!

Perhaps.

Most conventional thinkers tend to believe that the best way to appreciate a work is to read it. But if you need some simple-reading warm-up or perhaps a Cliff Notes version or a video, or a bit of practice in reading less demanding materials, you might want to contact a teacher at your local elementary school or a member of the children's books staff at your local public library for some suggestions.

Please let me know when you grasp the fact that the quality of academic argument and scholarly evidence isn't determined by polls, sales figures, or popularity contests. It's judged on the intrinsic merits or demerits of the work.

It seems, frankly, that the learning curve on this matter is considerably too steep for you, but one should never give up hope.

Here's a question: How much was Welch paid to write the book? Was he given any fat "stipends," drawn from FARMS's deep coffers?

[As is his habit, Master Scartch focuses like a laser on something potentially useful for his strange crusade of gossip and defamation but entirely irrelevant to the substance of the book in question:]

Nothing, so far as I'm aware.

No.

[How disappointing that must be to Master Scartch. But perhaps I'm lying. Yes. Yes, that must be it. I have to be lying.]

Hey, Dan:

You need to contact Dr. Shades about that "Seething Cauldron of Hatred." Do you see, above your avatar, where it says, "God"? *That* is what I was talking about. Mine has been personalized to say, "Master Mahan." Clever, eh? I urge you to contact Dr. Shades, so that you, too, can have a personalized avatar descriptor!

by the way: Who is "Master Scartch"? Or do you just think that ridiculing people's screen names is an effective form of debate?
