I guess I can see how this could be annoying to someone if it was a constant thing but I can't see this one being such a serious offense as to call it imposing ones beliefs onto another. To me it seems as silly as a woman refusing to go through a door because a man is holding it open. I have held the door for both sexes on many occasions just to be polite but I have only had women refuse to go through.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.
