No, I did. I just didn't have a good rebuttal! Your apologetics are just too damned good!! :)
Actually, I think that the both of you have a good point. My sense is that the one-day ban is a grudging allowance on the part of TBMs for the existence of non-LDS in their midst. There are plenty of totally "dry" counties in the U.S., so why wouldn't Utah county follow suit? Simple: the combination of Mormonism and the total ban of alcohol would constitute a "strangeness" factor that Mormon leadership is unable to reckon with. By allowing booze sales six days out of seven, the Mormons in the county can feel a bit more "mainstream."

What's your opinion?

Too bad the smiling Muslim girl isn't include in the Quote... She was imposed on us ;-)
I think narrowing "imposing" down to a political right-or-wrong is too technical. By our nature we "impose" upon our children/students ideas, habits, stupids & smarts. We impose on neighbors our barking dogs our food odors etc. etc.
"Impossible"??? Very difficult!! Solution: Individually being free to express AND free to oppose; both witout rancor. That condition is only generated in an educated conscious "society". One that we are slowly evolving towards. Unfortunately to the chagrin of those stuck fearfully in the sands of time.
Ignorance AND fear, our two worse enemies!
Roger, imposing :-)
Have you noticed what a beautiful day it is? Some can't... "God": nick-name for the Universe...

I have yet to see any proof in my own life that educated people are any less likely to spew rancor at their enemies.
"Surely he knows that DCP, The Nehor, Lamanite, and other key apologists..." -Scratch clarifying my status in apologetics "I admit it; I'm a petty, petty man." -Some Schmo

I too have encountered that disappointment on occasion. My conclusion: that person is simply "certificated". Their "education" is still a work-in-progress. As is my own.
Joseph Smith. is said to have said: "...cannot be saved in ignorance!" Very true! "Saved", IMSCO, goes way beyond the limitation put on the term by Ecclesiasticism...
As I have suggested before: What constitutes Education in our society is generally measured by how well one remembers; not by how well they think creatively. Especially so through College and University's first 3-4 years, which are generally preping for "employment"...
Maybe i should have added "maturity" is a prime need in all of this. Thanks for your insight.

I would agree with this. One of my primary frustrations with my education/government sponsored daycare time was the lack of difficult problems. Everything was neat and tidy with a memorizable process to an answer. Later when I started working I saw the results. It is ridiculous how much influence you can gain in a company by just being willing to make decisions independently and not seeking endless approval for them. In one job by doing this in six months I went from data entry drone to co-Team Lead on Software Implementation teams.
The elitist side of me approves of this process. The moral side of me is revolted by it. Then again, most of the impetus for general education came at times when there was a very real threat of the working-class revolting. Better (and cheaper) to teach their children to be good drones and citizens early and throw in making them literate as a bonus.

Your moral side is revolted by thinking independently?
Interesting how two can read the same thing & conclude differently...
Me: The elitst side approves the "dummy-down" as it facilitates "droning"... The moral side abhorse "d-d" as IT discourages independent thinking, which is generally not wanted of drones. Nor by institutions such as LDSism of their constituents...
Bet we agree on that one, (last sentence :-) eh?
