And if all we did was uncritically accept anything whatsoever written by our own, you critics would see unscholarly, noncritical thinking mere brainwash and pablum for faith. No matter what we do, you set it up as a damned if you do, damned if you don't. I for one, and very glad there are those who are seriously informed showing we lesser mortals the pitfalls of books and articles to avoid, no matter who authors them.

Yes, I am more than grateful for those who are better informed willing to show the rest of us some bad scholarship. Is there something inherently wrong with this, or do you get off simply charicaturing things to make yourself look all mighty important? There was no "bitch slapping," but my what a production you make of it.

Do you seriously wish to pretend here for us TAK that you, accept anything and all things written of a scientific bent as having equal value and validity?! Seriously? THen why the pretense that there is something wrong for those of faith to also show there are greater and lesser values of wroks on religion, faith, archaeology, and the Book of Mormon also? Is that really that hard to grasp?

The guide tries to introduce the Book of Mormon as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy and then use it to teach the gospel. Though this may have been the Church's program in times past, it is not the approach used now.

Gees disparagements were much more about style than content..
Beyond that Fischers work is a fairly inconsequential piece and to take the time to ridicule shows how petty and small Gee must be.

Trevor, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but I'd ask you to consider something. You've now read an objective though somewhat negative review of a very negative and biased review of a book you've never read or heard of. And already you are convinced this book is "crap lit".

Do you see how effective the polemics of FARMS can be, despite our best efforts to counter them?
