If not, why not?

I sincerely hope MANY people answer your question here Jersey Girl. Because I am told non-stop that peer review has to happen or nuthin said is worth spit (especially the pro-Mormon junk I write, and its assumed junk from the outset without even reading what I write!). I absolutely disagree with this, but others disagree with my disagreement, so I am seriously curious about it myself. A GREAT question!

Hmm...Do you write junk? If so, please post a piece of your junk and I'd be happy to pick it apart until sundown or at least until you answer my Smithsonian question which might be answered by the time I croak or shortly thereafter.

This thread gives more attention to these works of Clark and Sorenson than they can get anywhere else.

I created a new topic thread to discuss the reliability of peer review.

So are JustMe's. Having said that, beastie, in your view, how are these essays best evaluated?

What criteria should we use?

Justme has written essays somewhere?

If you're talking about my essays, I think the best way to evaluate them is to read the original sources I cite. You don't have to read all of them, but a few would be helpful in determining if I've distorted the sources. And that includes reading the apologia I reference.

Precisely! Yet this is not what critics against my writings say to me. Many of them simply dismiss what I write, automatically as being junk or biased or pro-Mormon and hence of no value whatever. I obviously misuse my sources. That is what I am told. I am told the only way to validate my research is have it peer reviewed and published in an acceptable scholarly journal. I disagree with this. I think it is the best way, of course, without question. But it is not the only way. I have even been told that if the peer review is done by fellow Mormons that doesn't count. It must be someone not Mormon, and better still, an atheistic bent. That way objectivity is achieved. I can't help but laugh at that assumption. But that is what I am told. I wonder how many non-Mormons would ask a Mormon to critique their writings on the Book of Mormon first? Would they scream bias and subjectivity if they then couldn't get their "junk" published by FARMS or FAIR?

Yes. I don't know why you're asking me that question.

I asked you because you mentioned his essays. I have no idea who justme is, or what he has written.

Anyway, justme, where are your essays? I'll read at least some.

No, he mentioned that he has produced essays, articles or some sort of materials. He did so earlier in this thread.

Are we reading the same thread?
