FHE (Just questions)
I understand what FHE is and the purpose of gathering family members on a regular basis. I want to know just a couple of things.
1. Is there a suggested curriculum? (I think so)
2. What happens to FHE when the nest becomes empty?

It becomes X-rated.

1. We always had a Family Home Evening manual. I think they still use these, because my home teacher tried to give one to my then four-year old daughter a couple years ago before I kicked him off my driveway.
2. I have no idea.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Jersey,
1. Theres not really a curriculum. You should have a prayer, and a moral lesson or point at some point, but it can just be a board game played together if you want it to be.
For those who have trouble creating a lesson on their own, the church has a manual you can use: Family Home Evening Resource Book
2. You do personal study time together as a couple, or you call it "Date Night" and have dinner and a movie. There are numerous manuals for personal study time. Like this one: Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith

Hold ON.
How did this go from a family devotional to a date night? That sounds kinda sketchy to me, Gaz.

p.s. I thought date night was on Friday, Gaz. At least the majority of LDS I know around here have date night on Friday.
You trying to finagle another date night out of the plan or something?

Well sometimes a lesson gets taught, and sometimes a board game gets played, and sometimes it becomes movie night.
Same thing happens when your older I would assume. Im still a good 15 years away before the empty nest times.

Great! More than enough time to take a refresher course on spelling and grammar!Gazelam wrote:Well sometimes a lesson gets taught, and sometimes a board game gets played, and sometimes it becomes movie night.

Re: FHE (Just questions)
Hey,
Whenever I have been to or had FHE we haven't had a set of instructions. The YSA FHE is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a manual for the peeps who have little/no imagination/inspiration. But it is way more fun to do it without a manual. Some families see it as a time when they go out to cinema/bowling, etc...
Usually, Church has an FHE class for; students without families and an older FHE for old single adults/ childrenless adults. A dude told me, over 30's go to a different one to us YSA.
