This is an answer I've never really been able to get from the pro-abortionists.

There just isn't a logical definition. Everytime someone tries one out, some other noggin will raise the issue of twinning and human chimeras (any ideas on whether a tetragametic hermaphroditic chimera would get the priesthood? Would the male parts of the body Trump the female parts?)

The first trimester cutoff seems to tie in with a number of milestones, and seems to be most common. My own personal view is that the activity that defines the end of life, should also define its onset - brain activity. That would shorten the first trimester window by about two weeks, and give a woman less than two months to sort her act out after missing a period.

But continuing with a pregnacy is very different from later fallout from issues of maternal and fetal health in later trimesters.

In many cultures the rights of the neonate depended on whether the child was accepted by parents after birth. We simply have the technology to bring the date forward now.

Is it morally right to let such a child be born if you knew beforehand?

I think that you need to explain that this girl's condition is pretty much cosmetic. She has two faces but they are both her own; and are advantageous to her family/not considered a handicap.

This would be a different situation if it were conjoined twins in the same boat (and two brains in one head) would that change the argument.

Until Dart pops up on this forum with a picture of his family, all 20 adopted kids from the slums of Rio along with his biological children, he has nuthin' to say to anyone about the morality of his position.

Since a moderator has seen fit to remove the image you so insensitively posted on a board where the images of Temple clothing are regularly removed out of sensitivity to Mormon's, I'll now reply to your post:

So at what point do you feel a fetus becomes a person? My wife knew when the Spirit entered her womb, so I will go with that. A mother knows when a life is within her.

I don't know when a fetus becomes a person. I have no interest in debating such a thing nor do I feel at all compelled to share the intimate details of my uterus, birth canal, pregnancy or birthing experiences on a message board with a male who completely ignores the real fact that pregnancy experiences result in both joyful and tragic outcomes in favor of scoring points for the Lord. My one and only interest in entering this thread was to oppose the image that you posted. There are females on this board actively posting and also lurking who have had their prenancy and birth experiences lead to awesome and delightful outcomes and at least one to my knowledge whose experience led to emotionally agonizing and heart breaking outcome and to this day, still grieves for her child.

I have spent the better part of my life advocating for children and their families and make no mistake about it, Gaz, if I see a poster on this board engaging in practice that will hurt a mother on this board to her core, I will rain down torrents of opposition against it to protect her from such crude insensitivity as you have cavalierly hurled her way.

And also I am glad to hear that the above image did in fact offend you. It was supposed to. And believe me, when I googled an image of partial birth abortion, that was the nice one that came up. We should all be damn good and angry that there are people in this world who want that ban repealed.

Gaz

You had no reason to google up and post that image. On this board, we have a standing allowance for LDS whose Temple experiences are held sacred to them. The posting of Temple clothing as well as excerpts and references to Temple ceremonies are removed from this main forum and relegated to the Telestial or, in some cases, removed entirely out of respect for LDS. This is a courtesy that you yourself enjoy on this board and one with which I agree.

I do not agree that the sacredness of your Temple practices Trump's the sacred experiences of women who have carried and/or given birth to a child without regard to both positive and negative outcomes that touch the heart of a woman in such an intimate way in that they produce hearts filled with motherly joy and hearts filled with motherly grief, both of which stay with us for the course of our lifetime.

Having said that, I do not see abortion as the relative issue. I see the decomposition of society as the main issue, and the real fact that a growing number of parents in this society take more care to research how their laptop operates than their own offspring.

That's what I think.

Next time you say that, Aussie, I'd like you to be standing before a mirror.

Oh goody, another noble savage appears at Mormondiscussions.com.
You know, this place is kind of like National Geographic in the spiritual sense. Its the one place you can get a good dose of T&A without actually having the dirty magazine in your hands.

How many sock puppets can PP have, or is this a new miscreant?
