Joseph Smith WAS a true Prophet....

Post by _micah »

...and so am I, and so are you, and Shades, and Mr. Scratch, etc etc etc

One of the definition's from Dictionary.com for a Prophet is:

"a spokesperson of some doctrine, cause, or movement."

After hanging out on ZLMB for a few years, and then here in the beginning days of this board, I eventually came to question why it was that I sought to tear down the faith of active LDS Members. I argued on the phone with my Chapel Mormon mother nightly throwing fact after fact at her in an attempt to show her that her religion was a hoax.

Then, click!! It occurred to me that I had spent years attacking other people's spirituality and had absolutely no spirituality of my own. People have an inherent need for some kind of spirituality or at least some kind of connection to the World that they are a part of and I was seriously lacking in the area.

Long story short, I tried out a few different paths before stumbling upon Vodou. I now perform Vodou Rituals for groups of individuals. I have immersed myself completely in my service to the Lwa. My skills and services are centered in and around Haitian Vodou Hand-Drumming.

As a result of my study, I have now been employed teaching through a local Non-Profit Music Guild, teach independently, build drums, and get to travel to many distant places I would have never thought life would have taken me just a few short years ago.

I am finished trying to prove Mormon's wrong. It is up to them to convince other's of their correctness if that is what they want to do and in the end, it comes down personal belief.

We were not here in 600 BC. We cannot prove beyond a shadow of a doubt a lack of existence of the Book of Mormon peoples. God could have hidden the evidence and a boogeyman may, in fact, appear in my room every time I close my eyes only to disappear when I open them. Neither are probable but I can hardly prove it.

I wish you all the best of luck at whatever you choose to pursue.

And, "good luck" to You Micah. Quite a moment when one realizes one size doesn't, and can't, fit all. Warm regards, Roger

No one questions anyone being a prophet. Anyone who testifies of Christ is a prophet.

There is a difference though in being a prophet over ones self and being a prophet of Gods church.

There are those who are called to preside over a sunday school class, and they are blessed and set apart to receive revelation to that calling and position. Ihave had hands laid on my head as a counselor in the Elders quorum, and have been set apart and blessed to receive revelation over that group of people. The same thing is done for a Bishop and Stake President.

The Prophet of the church, namely Thomas Monson, has been called upon and set apart to receive revelation for Gods whole church at this time. The same as Moses was set apart to lead Gods people anciently.

You are called upon to pray and receive revelation for yourself and your personal family.

And what if you receive a revelation like David Whitmer, who was told by revelation to "separate myself from the Letter-day Saints"?

That was a god revelation, I don't think anyone should be a member of the Letter-day saints. Did our resident grammer Nazi start that group?

You got me there. LOL. I didn't re-check it after posting. Excuses. Excuses. Excuses. You obviously got your semantic training from Dan.

What about the question, ignoring the spelling mittkkkake?

Going to answwer it?

Why did David Whitmer say that he was told, by revelation, to "separate herself from the Latter-day Saints"?

Fact after fact? I dunno. While tracting, we ran into a Bible study group who gave us a booklet titled something like "Joseph Smith: 30 False Prophecies By" and were challenged to prove them wrong. We came back and proved every one to be mis or selectively quoted or too poorly researched. Two of them ended up getting baptised.

Now if he'd just get on with it. It's been a long dry spell since we had anything resembling revelation, and only yesterday since we heard the opinions of men.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Speaking (typing) of revelation, harm, isn't the Seer Stone in a vault somewhere? How come it doesn't speak to Monson and others who've held the post?

That, my friend, isn't at all Biblical. Not that it matters to you, the Bible specifically gives a prescribed test for prophets.

Your use of the word prophet itself, is far away from the Christian definition.
