LDS Prop 8 Strategy Document
Wikileaks has released a document detailing the local LDS strategy on Prop 8. A few very interesting items to note.

Whoa, the Church better hide this from whoever evaluates tax exempt organization violations.

This seemed rather unimpressive.

really? I thought it was interesting.. Sounds to me like they are having trouble motivating support - don't look for too much outside state help.. Trying to get the under 30 active.. Facebook??
I wonder if the Church Leaders have the balls to place signs on Church property?

It's a dull campaign planning document. Is there something interesting here?

Yea I am sure Elders Ballard, Christopherson and Clayton do not mind it floating around the net.. No big deal there ..
Looks to me like the leaders are not very successful in rallying the sheep.. STP – same ten people??

It's called being realistic. We can't get people to do their Home Teaching. Do you really think they believe that in California they expect to be able to rally large-scale support for a door-knocking and phone campaign? Like most things in the Church a small percentage of the people will do most of the work.

Or perhaps CA members are not as bigoted as some others..

I think you're right, Nehor. If church leaders can't get members to do the basics like maintaining a temple recommend, how can they expect to pull off something of this magnitude?
Best to take the high road, and simply let the members vote their own conscience. Surely since they've taught us correct principles, they can let us govern ourselves now.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

While California members are probably less likely to get behind this then, say Texas members (I can say this as I've lived in both). I think I can say after a lifetime of Church membership that apathy and laziness are more likely the cause then principles. I remember hearing about the anti-porn campaigns in California. The main problems were procrastination and apathy.
