Re: Silentkid's Video Game Thread
So, I'm finally at the end of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and I've just finished beating the hell out of Darth Vader and then I get to fight the Emperor and in the middle of the epic showdown of flying debris, purple lightning, and flashing sabers, the damn thing freezes up, just stops dead, and I yell at the TV, I yell, "you goddamned piece of crap broken Star Wars game" and the thing stays stuck, staring back at me, not responding to my tirade, which motivates me to finally get up off my couch, walk to the PS3, and hold my finger over the power button until the system shuts down, the TV screen goes blank, and I retire to bed.

I eventually beat the Star Wars game without it freezing up. Yay. I've since downloaded the new Mega Man game, Mega Man 9. It's made with the same 8-bit graphics and gameplay of the orinial NES games. And it's damned hard. I've only completed two levels: Galaxy Man and Jewel Man. I'm slowly getting better. Anyone else playing this?

I think the big release date for this is at the convention on the eighth. I read an article in a magazine at the grocery store. It looks really good. Everything is apparently customizable. Uniforms, ships, teams, etc...

I've played so many Mega Mans I can't remember 'em all. I'll have to dig through my old collection and see if I can find it. Yes, I still have my original NES and even the light gun.

Ok, remember how I said Star Wars:The Force Unleashed sucked on ice? Well, that was the XBox 360 version (played it on PS3 to and it wasn't any better, just a different control set up and sliughtly better graphics). Well, Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation got a hold of the Wii version and, well... His review is pretty brutal. Funny, but brutal.

Re: Silentkid's Video Game Thread
I finally bought my kids a Wii today!!
I bought extra controllers and games, too. I picked up Rock Band for them, as well as some kind of Outdoor Games pack that includes a mat for snow boarding, I think. The salesperson said her kids liked the Mario Racing game, so purchased that as well as extra wheels. Got the American Idol game, too.
I spent an embarrassing sum of money, so I'm trying to hold off giving it all to them until Christmas, but I don't think I can make it. I'll be lucky to last the day, probably.
If anyone has good Wii game suggestions for kids, I'd love to have them.
Excited,
KA

I'm debating whether to get a Wii. We've already got a PS3, but it's not terribly kid friendly. But I like playing the Wii when I get the chance, and so do the kids. The Mario Kart game is one of my favorites, so good choice. I've heard awesome things about Wii Fit, too, but haven't played it. Oh, and the bowling is pretty cool.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

We have both the Wii and the PS3.
I love our Wii. Mario Kart is my form of crack. LOL

My wife loves Carnival Games on the Wii. Another game I've seen lots of kids like is some kind of Mario / Sonic Olympics game. Also, depending on ages, I hear the Zelda game is a lot of fun although I don't know the age / skill required.. I also enjoyed Metriod Prime 3 Corruption, although I'm also unsure of ages / skill.
Super Monkey ball has some fun games.
My personal recommendation is to not buy everything right away. Have your kids trade some games with neighbor kids or rent a couple once in a while.

Welcome to the wonderful world of gaming. I still haven't played a Wii. My sister has one and her kids love it. I really want to play Mario Kart...that was my favorite game on the SNES.
