A Symbol for Mormons?

Post by _moksha »

PaPa at the MAD board asked this intriguing question:

The Jews have the “Star of David”.
The “Christians” (note quotes) have the “Cross”.
The Muslims have the “Crescent Moon”.
The Mormons have ????.
What should we have (serious and fun), or would that be idol worship?

Immediately I thought of either the Angel Moroni or the new City Creek Mall. However, my personal favorite would be the Cross.

Do you have any suggestions?

Mormons have the sad temple face:

No doubt, the Angel Moroni has become the primary logo for the Church of the 21st century. But I think it would be cool if the Church started promoting their own version of the cross... maybe an inverted pentagram inside a Maltese cross, as is found on the Nauvoo temple.

Why not? You incorporate both the elements of the Atonement and Temple Ceremony?

How about a resurrected Joseph Smith..

God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

Mormons have CTR! ('Course, that's more on the order of WWJD than a cross or star of David, but still...)

Since we're throwing around ideas for hybrid symbols, here's an idea: Moroni hanging on the cross!
