"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."

So they can't find enough LDS in CA to fight this they have to reach out to Utah?

I hope this story gets picked up by the LA Times.. Can we say backfire?
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

Rollo, are you in California? Just curious.

If so, did you receive a letter asking you to contribute monetarily to the cause of supporting Prop 8?

My stepfather is a fairly wealthy dentist, and received one of these letters.

No, I don't live in CA, so no letter.

I have to say, I was a little take aback when I read the letter addressed to my Mom and stepfather. It arrived when I was out there taking care of my Mom after her back surgery.

I don't recall the Church being this bold with the ERA when they were involved.

Members in Nevada have been asked to man phone banks and make calls to people in California and encourage them to vote yes on prop 8. They have also been asked to provide financial support.

What happens in California has an affect on the rest of the nation. If a marriage is legal in California it has to be honored in the rest of the United States.

If you are married in Georgia, are you still married when you move to Oklahoma? See what I mean?

This vote in California has national repercussions. And as far as the church is concerned, can a Gay couple who wants to be sealed in the temple sue the church for the right since Gay marriage will be legal?

These sick deranged homosexual bastards need to be stopped.

Likewise, if you are married in Canada you are still married when you visit the US. as far as I know the church didn't try to derail the enabling legislation in Canada. Wonder why ...

Actually this is not true. A state that does not recognize homosexual marriage can refuse to recognize such marriages from other states. In fact that state I live in does not currently recognize such marriages but the governor is pushing the state to do so.
