The following is a standard response:

Master Scartch has devoted himself since at least 2006 to publicly defaming me while maintaining his anonymity. A particular focus of his hatred is the FARMS Review, which I founded and edit.

The FARMS Review has been appearing, now, for very nearly twenty years. The entirety of every issue of the Review is available on line, at

http://farms.BYU.edu/publications/review/

Anyone interested in inspecting the FARMS Review for himself or herself, without Scartch’s defamatory spin, without Scartch’s hostile selection and editing, without looking through the distorting Scartchian lens, is entirely welcome to do so.

I regard Master Scartch as an obsessive and malevolent loon, and have decided to refrain from further gratifying his weird fixation on me and those connected with me. Attempting conversation with him over the past many months has accomplished precisely nothing, and is, plainly, a complete waste of my time -- especially given the fact that it's his self-described "mission" and "amusement" to be "perceived" by "Mopologists" as "full of hate." Sarcasm and irony are overused on this thread. By me especially.

Wow, a brutal beating indeed. You know, the more of these "reviews" I read by the FROB of Chapel Mormon books, the more I'm reminded of the critics of "positivists" condemning Carl Sagan and others for taking advantage of the "sitting ducks" of the religious world, blowing them out of the water for the thrill.

Check out this little tidbit of well-poisoning and guilt by association, the author notes,

FARMS wrote:Kraut's prominence as a polygamist might be disturbing to mainstream Latter-day Saint readers.

Indeed the Review will see to it! But it's very interesting to see the Review adopt an "anti-Mormon" tactic like this. Just think of how many "anti-Mormons" have scored points in a similar way as FARMS does here, by noting Latter-Day Saints would be disturbed to know the prominance of polygamy in Joseph Smith's life.

Another interesting charge is that the author took liberties in editing the stories to make them fit LDS culture. A crime against humanity no less. As if FARMS has never heard, and taken to heart, Packer's recommendation about some truths not being very useful. There probably isn't criticisms here that couldn't be leveled against LDS Sunday School manuals.

Mr. Scratch wrote:things such as the Three Nephites get ridiculed in much the same light as bat babies in the latest issue of the National Inquirer.

Indeed. Dynamite fishing at its best.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

I must say, I am in awe of the administrative and editorial acumen on display here.

So uh....what specifically about the review do you think misrepresented the book?

Wait... let me get this straight... The Farm/MI fools do not believe in the story of the Three Nephites, but they do believe when they finally find THE Hill Cumorah, it will contain a ginormous cave which is stacked to the ceiling with gold records from the fairytale they call the Book of Mormon???

Yes, a Farms respew, err, review did contain an article on the Cumorah cave, and they were quite serious about it, with the exception of the actual location of said hill.

Well, as you'll note from the title of the thread, I felt more that FARMS "h-bombed" the book, rather than "misrepresented" it. Further, I am puzzled at what the presence of this article in FARMS Review says about the editorial process---a process which, as DCP has said, is quite thorough and elaborate.

Such fun to use potty-language! My, my, Professor P. What will all those onlookers think when they Google this neat little nickname you've invented?

They'll think what the others here who have Googled scartch apparently think: You're wrong.

Good night, Scartch.

What, a life where I invent puns on the name "Hatch," and submit it for approval to the FARMS editorial board?
