BYU question for Peterson, Hamblin, or any other affiliates:
For those who are paid by the same institution that has now put a hold one Chad Hardy's diploma, can any of you provide your thoughts as to WHY?
Does one's academic achievement depend on future obedience to a non-secular agenda? Does BYU now have an "academic worthiness" criteria? Is freedom of thought, speech or expression now a "look back" policy at your "supposedly" academic institution?
Or is this situation, like the polygamous affairs of SMith, now one of those issues that is best put in the "future chasm of time"?

Re: BYU question for Peterson, Hamblin, or any other affiliates:
Why? This is simple. It is about the MONEY. If Chad had paid tithing he could have done nudie calendars and it would have been OK. Marriott rents porno flicks and his money is just find with LDS, Inc.
Remember the Video Flick prosecution in Utah County? The Defense got the guy off by bringing in videos from Marriott Hotel in Provo, the very flicks they were prosecuting the guy for. He was found not guilty.
BYU has artwork in its permanent collection that shows nudity. Some on faculty in the visual arts sections do nude artwork. They all pay tithing.
As much as the powers that be at BYU and above try to deny it all they do is affirm it. It is about the MONEY.

So is it inappropriate to ask questions dealing with academic progression and achievement from BYU faculty members??

I would just like Mr. Quinn to drop his mask, and just start posting as himself. He's such a pussy. He really doesn't have THAT much lose. Really. After all, look at The Fat Man. Has he lost anything? No. He has not.
C'mon, Dr. Quinn. Drop the facade.

It's bad internet form to try to strip someone's mask.

My guess is that Dr. Peterson, and probably Dr. Hamblin too, would not go back and change a student's grade after learning something about the student's personal life. Further, my guess is that Dr. Peterson, and probably Dr. Hamblin too, would view such a retroactive adjustment as unethical.

And yet isn't that what the institution that employs(ed) them both did?

Oh, that's different. If Dr. Peterson or Hamblin were called upon by an LDS authority figure to go back and change a grade in order to punish a student for unrelated personal behavior, I guess Peterson or Hamblin would comply without a hint of complaint. There's ethical/unethical, and then there's divine command. One is of man, and one is of God.

Re: BYU question for Peterson, Hamblin, or any other affiliates:
Well, BYU has always been clear that the ecclesiastical endorsement and following the "hedge" they've put around the law is mandatory and that they will null and void a diploma. The consequence here is something BYU has always been open about. BYU feels that their answer to "liberal arts" includes the intangible obedience to the laws of an angry God, redacted and magnified by wicked, controlling priests. And the diploma they offer doesn't just represent academic achievement but purity of living.
Well, everyone who goes to BYU agrees to those terms, they aren't forced.
