Hard to say. I consider myself a "used to be" LDS, not necessarily ex-LDS. I don't know if that's a distinction without difference, though. I haven't resigned or anything. I just don't buy it anymore.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Should there be another category, skippy? Inactive LDS? Dis-believing LDS?
If you consider yourself ex-LDS on an intellectual level, perhaps just go with ex?

How about "Nominal LDS", that is, LDS in name only.
Note: Lots of current nominal LDS do still call themselves "exmos". That is, they're officially in the Church, but not of it (oftimes for family reasons, or out of respect for parents/grandparents).

There may be some here who consider themselves inactive LDS. As for me, I'm past that - I left "inactive" (or "less active") long ago.
I suppose if I were pressed, I could consider myself former-LDS. But I guess that really is just ex, isn't it?

Re: Polling the MDB Masses
I clicked ex-LDS. Although I have not resigned. I don't believe, and arguably I never believed as an adult, having reasoned my way out at about 17. My problem is the fact that I got signed up for something as a child, and why should I jump through hoops to resign. In NZ, a contract is not binding if a signer is not over 18.
Technically, I am 'inactive' according to my parents. But I don't see why anyone but me should designate my belief status, in anything.

Ex-LDS. Resigned.
I detest my loose style and my libertine sentiments. I thank God, who has removed from my eyes the veil...

Ex-LDS and ex'd LDS because I publicly denounced and refused to sustain the prophet and the profit in a F&T meeting.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.
