Inc.,

I've posted over 4,000 times on this board over like the last 2 years. You think I hate this place?

While this board may have slowed down slightly as of late, its very much a fun place at times, and I have learned alot from people here.

All we need is a few willing new souls who enjoy a good discussion and have a thick skin and a sense of humor. They may just show up at any time, who knows.

First of all, I don't agree with the OP. I think RFM is far more popular than MDB or MAD/FAIR. I just did a random search for a MAD poll, and it came up with a total of 40 votes. The Scratch thread had 32. I don't think it's infinitely more popular over there. You can get an idea by post views as well.

MAD/FAIR also has a large website, and it's rulers link to a million tiny spam sites which ultimately advertise MAD.

RFM has been around since when, 1996 or something?

About the only thing I agree with is that protecting one's core population at certain times and catering to them would probably help its long-term growth. Both MAD and RFM do that heavily. And the thing about that is, it really has nothing to do with who's right or wrong, but the typical person feels very vindicated and infused with loyalty when the admin penalizes someone s/he doesn't like. And the opposite is also true, people feel betrayed when the admin doesn't punish their opposition.

Gad said Scratch's thread (Survivor?) had 32 replies. The roll call I did had 41. I looked back to the Jersey Girl/Mod poll and that had 53. So the board runs say, 40+ regular posters.

Maybe a little more since this is only the Terrestial Kingdom (albeit seemingly the most popular Kingdom).

What you say about the posters who have discontinued participation here on account of the nature of exchanges here is true and while I agree that personal attack will be part of the reason this board fails to grow, I do think another reason is because the board is largely limited to Mormonism as a main theme.

I think that because of that limited theme, this will always be a small community and one that will likely continue without me. It's not that I don't appreciate the spirit in which the board was created, it's that I find it all too confining. I see perhaps one topic looming on the horizon that I would like to engage or at least see played out. Beyond that, I can think of no reason that this board would sustain my interest.

Yes. People on boards seem to settle into one main forum and on this board it's the Terrestrial Forum. If I could wave a magic wand, the Old Testament would the main forum but this board was created with Mormonism as a focal point.

I sure wish more Mormons would post here to give this place some balance. There should be something appealing to Mormons to experience an "all voices allowed" type of forum.

The problem is, Mormons have been conditioned to view any sort of freedom of speech vis-a-vis Mormonism to be automatically anti-Mormon, so they'll usually avoid such a place like the plague.
