Re: Why Isn't This Board More Popular?
As an LDS lurker I view some messages (the first 20 messages, and maybe the last 20 if the first 20 were worthwhile) and mostly look forward to the nonsense posts by scratch, porter, mercury and goodk. I'm smart enough to avoid discussion with those types (anyone who has served a mission should be able to recognize a worthless discussion...) but I definitely enjoy reading the garbage :)
To be honest the only things enjoyable about this board are the constant smears, bickerings and drawn out hostile threads. When I get bored and want entertainment I browse the threads here. What makes this board more appealing than most is readability of the authors. The wit and writing is fantastic.
Overall, though, it's like watching adults play in a sandbox full of terd.

I find this comment disturbing and troublesome.

Laughter is the best medicine, and at times MDB posters provide it in megadoses for me (somtimes even when they're dead serious). MAD, or even RFM, by comparison, just doesn't cut it for me in that regard. After you've spent ten, twenty or thirty years in Mormonism, or talking about it, you'd go insane to keep taking it too seriously.
Can you think of any General Authority in the history of Mormonism who was hugely popular with both Mormons and ex-Mormons?
Hint, he once said this:
Some people say a person receives a position in this church through revelation, and others say they get it through inspiration, but I say they get it through relation. If I hadn't been related to Heber C. Kimball I wouldn't have been a damn thing in this church."
How can anyone criticise such honesty?

Anyone who thinks this place is full of hatemongers needs to go to MAD and read the threads about the new questioner Wes.
Selek and Obiwan were in typical fashion. Pahoran, surprisingly, stayed away.
Nehor actually threw some pretty good punches at the guy too.

If there's one thing I've learned from this board, it's that consensual sex with multiple partners is okay unless God commands it. - Abman
I find this place to be hostile toward all brands of stupidity. That's why I like it. - Some Schmo

What kind of self-hating loser spends so much time in a place they find objectionable?
Oh, that kind.
Well, luckily I'm not a Mormon. If I was, I'd probably feel a little guilty "lurking" in such a trash heap while I could be serving the Kingdom of God by volunteering at the temple, passing out Yes on 8 hate propaganda, magnifying my calling, pleasing your spouse, reading the scriptures....

Well, no one there called him gay yet. That's a bit better then here.
You're gay.

Obviously only women are supposed to do this.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

A self hating loser who finds this place objectionable! And a note that, because I am LDS, I should feel guilty for spending time here!
This is why I love this place. What you spew is just as made up as any aspect of Mormonism. I don't find it objectionable or guilt inducing. It is entertaining.

Well, I agree. The Book of Mormon seems to share the same origins as my original thoughts and opinions do - a human brain.
I, on the other hand, do not tax your total net income 10% to read them.
You are welcome.
It is entertaining.
At least one of us is entertaining the other.
I must be immune to your riveting opines, or have accidentally overlooked them.
