The owners of the theater chain either are Mormons, or are catering to just the Mormon and fundamentalist Christian portion of it.

And why not? It's their business.

Where in this quote do I say that they ought not be able to do this?

Because homo sapiens living within the geographical borders of Utah are just as capable of grasping the concept of movies as are homo sapiens living within the geographical borders of New Jersey.

I don't know enough about the Utah movie economy to know if there are enough non-Megaplex theaters who will carry this film to satisfy any desire to see it by these others.

The Century theater on 3000 S. State St. in SLC will probably show it. That's where my friends and I saw a lot of small, independent films when I lived in Utah. I just think it's funny when a theater chain gets self-righteous about one movie but turns a blind eye to others that are just as bad, if not worse. Better to just show the movies and let the audience decide.

I am much more concerned about movies like Saw and Hostel than sex comedies. I don't want my kids watching movies with a lot of sex and nudity because it objectifies women and gives them an unrealistic view of sex. Women don't walk around in lingerie and offer BJs to random men. However, I would prefer they watch a porno before I let them watch horror movies as disturbing as Saw and Hostel. The cops should sit outside those theaters and get a good look at the kids coming out of those movies, because they're the ones to look out for.

I think it is hilarious that they changed the title from "Zack and Miri make a porno" down to just "Zack and Miri".

The local news had a representative from the theater on and he said it was strictly a business decision. He didn't think enough people would come to see it to justify the costs of showing it. Or some such BS.

Now that things are rarely banned in Boston, Banned in Utah will have to suffice for drawing audience.

There is little doubt that Utah decision makers prefer a bit of the old ultra-violence to anything with nudity.

I think the main problem this movie had with Utah theater owners, was that it had the word porno in the title.
