If I were a mod at MAD, I would take the name "Orifus".

I'd be stuck with Narcissus c/o the good Professor.

Ray A wrote:Scratch, I think Nehor hangs on to Mormonism for reasons other than a "literal belief". When you see someone posting like he is, you can be assured that he believes in Mormonism as much as he believes in Irish leprechauns.

He believes he's seen God, so really what's to doubt about his faith? Mormon God to him is real, unlike Irish leprechauns.

He's different from Gaz, but that's not surprising - they've both chosen different roles. Nehor chose role of "crazy guy who says he's seen God and Joseph Smith in person", and Gaz has chosen the role of "complete and total fanatical religious asshat". It's two different roles, even though the church they've chosen to center on is the same.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I assure everyone here that I believe in God and that LDS theology is the most correct of any on Earth. I laugh more because I believe it. I've seen more desperately believing fanatics that can't laugh about their faith then I have honest believers.

I believe in God. I converse with him daily. I get a reassurance of his existence daily. I love God and am working on getting out of the way so my Messiah can save me. I used to seriously discuss doctrine on this board and some of those who have been here the longest will remember that. That was back when Scratch said I was one of the good apologists. Then I pointed out that he did nothing but slander people (When is the last time Scratch discussed the LDS faith and not people defending it or in it?). I stopped discussing serious things because they were thrown back at me twisted beyond recognition or discounted without being refuted. So I quit throwing pearls...or rocks I thought were pearls depending on your perspective.....before the liars of this board and decided to have fun instead.

I don't discount the existence of Irish leprechauns but I have no evidence suggesting they exist.

Scratch, I do occasionally have rough days (but never really feel like a loser) though that is not what prompted the thread in question. That came from what I thought was a funny spoofing idea. When I do feel like a loser I remember that somewhere out there there's a sad pathetic non-member or cowardly member in name that spends a good portion of his day organizing informants. Their goal: not to tear down a religious organization but instead to smear a small group of people who publish papers on an obscure subject and a few people who spend some of their down time discussing things on the Internet. With such small-minded and pathetic people in the world with such low goals and such cowardly means of fighting their weak little battle I then I think about it and "Then I don't feel so bad". Slight correction: I never claimed to have seen Joseph Smith.

Funny, last time I saw him he said he just came over from your place. But then again, Emma showed up a few minutes later and was looking for him.

I must confess--in all honesty--whenever I picture Joseph Smith I think of Bill Clinton. But I liked Bill, so that is probably why I have a soft spot for Joseph.

Wow, did I really say that? I think I'm going to have to issue a CFR on this one, my friend.

Keep backpedaling, Nehor. There was no "spoof" involved. It was an attempt (and a rather obvious one) at self-aggrandizement.

Ah, there we go. Let the pain out, Nehor. Swallow that bitter, painful lump in your throat.

I see. You simply refuse to address anything but carefully selected portions of his post to construct your script.

Well done!

I decided to try out the search feature today. CFR granted Scratch:

Nehor---

I have to say, you have done a remarkably good job of defending your position, and I really have to tip my hat to you. You are without question one of "The Good Ones."
