Keith Oberman's eloquent message to Mormons?

Post by _truth dancer »

In case anyone missed Keith Oberman's amazing "speech" last night directed to those who supported Prop 8, here it is...

Listen to the speech

Keith doesn't specifically mention Mormons but it seems clear he is addressing them along with other religionists who voted to take away the rights of those with SSA.

TD,

The link led to a rant about B.O., erm, the other B.O. "Bill O". Do you have a different link?

Aww... That was nice. *a toast to The Gays* Too bad the Intolerant want us to be tolerant of their intolerance. That's sad. I would boycott Utah if I were a Gay.

It may prove interesting come Sundance Festival time..
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

I thought it was great. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Still waiting for Will to back this up...

They want to take away the LDS tax-exempt status out of revenge. They also want to interferre with the right of the church to be involved with moral issues.

Maybe I can't, but then nobody does when it comes to the law. Do we really want to do unto international spies, tax evaders, lunatics, and cannibals (who consent) as we would have them do unto us? No, we'll punish them for what we dislike. Yes my point is greatly exaggerated, but I think it shows that there are good reasons to be wary of the Golden Rule. We need to be sure we're applying it appropriately.

Anyhow, I didn't do anything to support Proposition 8--I just like arguing. I think the government should leave marriage alone and work for giving rights to homosexuals (and heterosexuals) through civil unions. Then the sanctity of marriage is preserved while gays get the same thing heterosexuals get. Or maybe the government still recognizes marriage, but does not give it as many rights as civil unions--that would be interesting.

I wouldn't want to take it away for revenge. Let's just take it away. They'll live.
