This is the second time you've acted like one. I call 'em as I see 'em.

Edited to add---Don't worry, Marg. I won't be engaging you further, so go ahead and consider this a "win" in your little world of debate here in Shady Acres.

I was in protection mode. Moniker is my friend, and you insulted her. End of story.

Jersey,

It wasn't intentional. But interesting things were said and we just sort of ran with it. Perhaps Moni will want to start another thread regarding viewpoints and culture.

marg...this is the most convoluted post I've ever seen you write! ;-)

Yes but if you have no jam and someone offers some, there's no need to take it as a personal afront.

Yes, but if you have no jam and someone offers some, there's no need to take it as a personal affront except that you shouldn't mistake a shopping list for an in-store special.

It's normal to want and like jam, and why should one expect if you are sitting there without any on your toast, that you don't want anyone to offer you any.

If you advertise your jam-less toast, you're asking for it to begin with. Just because someone has jam, you shouldn't expect that you're entitled to it.

Personally I don't eat much toast and jam for breakfast. I don't handle carbs well, I tend to get rapid rises and lowerig of blood sugar levels if I eat only high glycemic carbs.

Switch to a nice banana.

Gaz,

I don't care if you derail it. It needs derailing!

What's so wrong with asking if you can get something on special. I have a friend who does it all the time, and like she says there's nothing wrong with asking.

But once again there's nothing wrong with asking. Of course if someone is excessively persistent and wont take no for an answer, then they have some sort of issue and one should ignore them or appreciate their deficiencies.

Bananas are extremely high glycemic.

I'm going to ask marg and liz to please stop.

I'm really tired and this won't be long, at all. I think what has happened is simliar to the reasons that being a homosexual is used as a slur on this board at the same time that bigots are called out. I don't understand that. Yet, I do better understand this culture. I was naïve about how the Church taught the men and women to view those on the "outside". I had NO clue. I didn't. I think I sat down in the lotus position, poured gasoline over me, then someone threw a match! I didn't know the firestorm that would erupt from some things I wrote. NOW, I refuse to be shamed because of them.

I posted my earlier post for a specific reason.

Gaz, prayer doesn't work, for me. :) I did pray because I promised you I would. Zip. Nil. No results. I did it because I knew you wanted to share with me something that you feel passionate about and was your cultural experience. When others on this board find out that I am not alarmed at some of the Church practices they labeled me stupid or naïve -- about to be converted. I viewed it, always, as a learning experience. Like you know I grew up in Japan for a few years and there was a Shinto shrine by my home. I participated in all the festivities (even was allowed to sip sake -- my parents are sinners, too!), etc... Was I a Shintoist? No. I love the culture that created that religion, though.

I will never be religious or have a belief in God. My faith (and it is that....) lies with humans. That's probably, at times, more foolish than belief in God for an atheist.

You're being careful with your words in your replies. Here's the thing, gaz. You took someone that you knew she felt ZIP about prayer, that joked about things you were QUITE serious about and then you just gave up and started talking to ME. You ask me where I am, where have I been, you ask me what's going on, and OFTEN you ask me if you've said anything to offend me.

If the other ladies could stop, now. I know the sentiments that each of you hold.

~edited~

by the way, I find your speech about homosexuals something that I would label hate speech. A few people on the board know (and I don't know if I told you or not) that my brother died of AIDS (spinal meningitis) when he was 23. I have friends that are homosexual. I just don't care. I don't care if it's a choice or if it's inherited -- I don't even think that makes a difference, at all.

Anyway. I guess that's all I wanted to say.

And the last time you did the same thing and came back with a response in which you thought you were justified. I'm not worried Liz, as I said your derogatory use of the word "bitch" reflects on you. It doesn't hurt me, when you use such words.

Moniker, I don't have time to read your post, will do so either later or tomorrow.

Another options is needed: Inactive and upset Mormon

Cut me and I bleed Mormon. After 40 years in the church there is no way I can truly leave it. I am culturally LDS and always will be. I no longer attend, and I no longer believe. Any yes I am deeply hurt that my church is racist, homophobic, lies about it's history and doctrine, and treats Women as second class citizens.

No, I have one more thing to add. I'll stop editing my above post, now. :)

One thing you shared with me that I appreciated about your culture was what you sent me about Jesus Christ. I told you (a few times) I always think I'm getting something different than what you want me to see in the words. I'm certain, I did.

Yet, I appreciate Jesus Christ in the Latter Day Saints.
