And...

There are a number of ways in which Palin is a mediocrity, much like 'W' is. In terms of learning and intelligence, both are mediocre. What they do best is mirror to a certain segment of the US population its own mediocrity in a manner that is more flattering and glamorous than its collection of dull, insignificant lives will ever experience.

They both certainly possess personality traits that are exceptional. Neither person should be underestimated. I sincerely hope that Palin will never have an office in the White House, but I would not count her out.

To adapt a line from Braveheart:

Who is this person who writes to me as if I should value his opinion?

You've posted nothing to distinguish your intelligence from the mob of "progressives" who possess "just enough of learning to misquote."

The day you value my opinion is the day I need to worry.

Obviously, I am in good company with a number of conservative intellectuals too. Maybe they were a little too deep for you to grasp their reasoning.

Which "conservative intellectuals?" The ones who brought us the boondoggle that is the Iraq War?

Yeah, I'm having trouble trying to name any conservative intellectuals as well... at least on this board.

Um, no. Bill Kristol actually has a huge chubbie for Palin. It was folks like George Will (i.e. a real conservative, not a neo-con) who correctly thought she was an atrocious choice.

You don't get out much, do ya?

Do this for a few years and she might have something to say.

When the electorate does not value intelligence, you don't have to.

George Will did not approve of her as the VP pick but I don't recall him referring to her as an "atrocious choice."

In any event, Adelman, one of the biggest neoconservative rats to jump ship, disdains Sarah Palin, as does the former neoconservative who now sings in the choir, Fukuyama. By way of contrast, Lawrence Eagleburger, no neocon, thinks Sarah Palin could have grown into the office, as do I.

The fact that he said anything, in the circumstances, is tantamount to calling the move an "atrocious choice."

Yes, I guess neither of those guys was on the fabled cruise to Alaska where Bill Kristol fell in love. Eagleburger made that statement as backtracking from what he really thought. He realized what he had done was inconsistent with the appearance of party loyalty, so he fell back in line. And, to fall back to the position of her prospects of becoming "adequate" with 4 years of experience and training is hardly a ringing endorsement. He spoke like a man who could hardly keep his meal down for being forced by his buddies to do something he found most distasteful.

In any case, my original point stands. Nice try, though.
