Surely there were some examples of Reformed Egyptian in this exhibition. I mean, they didn't have any when I saw it in Chicago a few years ago, but surely by now they're seen the error of their ways.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Well, I guess that proves it, then. The Church is true.

Likewise, Figure #7 is "God sitting upon his throne, revealing through the heavens the grand Key-words of the Priesthood."

The gestures of those two individuals vaguely resemble a couple of the "signs" in the endowment (assuming, of course, that the member in #7 is an arm sticking out with a hand in a cupping shape, and not a penis).

In my Kimball era Book of Abraham, the offending member has been deleted. So I think it was recognised as a willy, rather than a cupping hand. At least until recently.

The squared arm gripping the flail has to be the last nail in the coffin. It is so distinctly symbolic (along with the boner) of Min. And Joseph Smith was clearly totally oblivious to the meaning of the whole plaque.

We've not gone yet! But thanks for asking. :)

The exhibit is in Dallas. We'll be there next week over Thanksgiving break. It's about a five hour drive, but thanks to DVD screens in the minivan and lots of snacks, my girls won't mind the drive at all.

We watched a bit about Tut on television tonight, and learned he had a cleft palate, as did his father Akhenaten.

The television program also inspired conversation about Tut's demise. My girls are divided as to the cause of his death. Three of them believe he died due to gangrene in his broken leg. The hold-out, Madeline, my conspiracy theorist, still believes he was murdered (though the evidence shows otherwise), and has concocted her own crazy scenario as to how it happened. Knowing her she'll tell everyone at the exhibit her nutty theory.

I still can't fathom what exactly some Mormons saw at the exhibit that reminded them of the temple endowment. But I'll be on the lookout. Who knows? Maybe the exhibit is staffed by bored looking elderly men in white polyester suits?

I propose to read a book : The Egyptian by Mika Waltari
Image
...
The hero of the novel is not Akhenaten (the most common hypothesis holds that Tutankhamun was the son of Akhenaten), however, but the fictional character Sinuhe, the royal physician, who tells the story in exile after Akhenaten's fall and death.
... the book became an international bestseller, topping the bestseller lists in the USA in 1949. It remained the most sold foreign novel in the US before its place was taken over by The Name of the Rose, by Umberto Eco ...

It is one of my favourite.

If You like Waltari's style and viewpoint, I suggest The Adventurer and The Wanderer. (Mikael & Mikael Hakim) The former is about the time of protestant reformation, the latter is about islam and the era of Sultan Suleyman.
( سليمان Suleiman personally led Ottoman armies to conquer the Christian strongholds of Belgrade, Rhodes, and most of Hungary before his conquests were checked at the Siege of Vienna in 1529. )
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

Not that I am obsessed or anything, but I found a great image of a Min scupture. In 3D you get a better idea of what he is doing with his other arm.

The wee stick figure, Figure 7 in Facsimile 2, of the Book of Abraham is more clearly depicted thus:
