It's only immoral if you have a stick firmly wedged up your butt (and it seems you do).

Here's what's immoral: imposing your bronze-age beliefs on otherwise thinking people. It occurs to me that religious people like you are not only anti-evolution in theory, but in practice as well.

The Bible is from the Iron Age, doofus. While the Old Testament incorporates earlier material, it achieved its present form in the Iron Age and the New Testament is certainly from the Iron Age.

Really, there is no further need for you to parade your pretense of learning; it has been established beyond all doubt.

Maybe you should reread what you just wrote! No one made any claims as to when the Old Testament was actually put together. As you note yourself, the Old Testament claims to incorporate earlier material. It is the claimed earlier material (i.e. from the bronze age) that establishes arbitrary and unjust pseudomoral nonsense as 'law'.

There is another thread addressing the historicity of Moses, if you want to pursue the late discovery of his 'works'.

Well, that certainly makes a huge difference. Far be it from me to be satisfied with the fevered mumblings of Bronze Age prophets. I'll settle for nothing less than Iron Age ones, thank you!

Quote:
I the Lord God will send forth flies upon the face of the earth, which shall take hold of the inhabitants thereof, and shall eat their flesh, and shall cause maggots to come in upon them;

And their tongues shall be stayed that they shall not utter against me; and their flesh shall fall from off their bones, and their eyes from their sockets;

And it shall come to pass that the beasts of the forest and the fowls of the air shall devour them up.

A 'just and loving God"?

Maybe kids under 8 do go directly to the Celestial Glory when they die or are killed, but what is the rationale used to justify them being tortured, raped, beaten and abused? Allowing this to happen to them serves no intelligent purpose I can fathom. Suffering is not noble, it is suffering. Suffering by little children is cruel and mean, nothing noble about it at all.

Keep in mind that just as modern prophets write agenda-driven drivel occasionally, so too did the ancient ones. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's from God.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

You already have with the back handed comment..

Perhaps Ed is bitter to be at his point in life know he could have been a general business litigator, his practice has an emphasis in regulatory, real estate and land use disputes under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and federal analogues. ..
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

CC has demonstrated on several occasions just how advanced his "thinking" is. There comes a point where you just have to pat the little dimwit on the head and tell him it's past his bedtime.

Well do you care about good corn dogs? Ed Firmage is the Corn Dog King of Murray. Kind of like Abe Frohman is the Sausage King of Chicago, but more for the carnival and county fair scene.

Mmmmmmm, corn dogs!
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
