I think that a lot of the "dirty work" is actually carried out by special divisions within Church Security. For example, "suits" from Church Security are sometimes sent out to put pressure on Church critics, or to harass the friends of Church scholars who are in hiding.

Other than the September 7, whose stories are as bogus and self serving as anything can be, what is your best recent proof of your statement? Next brest proofs? When did "Church Security" "suits" put pressure on some critic? You mean, people demonstrating in front of the Conf Center?

Your post is disturbing and troublesome (and without basis).

Bob,

Why should I tell you anything? On an old thread, you boasted about how you would present a journal whose editorial policies were identical to those at the FARMS Review, and when pressed, you chickened out and fled the scene.

How troublesome and disturbing. And without basis.

What I want to know is, why does Crock think the Sept 6 stories are bogus? And how does he know one way or the other?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Asb,

While there may be a high-tech side to Mormonism and many sharp Mormon engineers, I don't think the brethren are exactly up on technology and the most likely answer to your question is "no", first and foremost because the brethren have no idea what spyware is. It's not like the Church has staked out territory in "Second Life" like other big corporations or even churches have. I'll bet you all 15 apostles still use a typewriter. The church leadership is very, very "behind the times". I think that famous shot of Hinckley in tears over the "Internet" may well have reflected his frustration over a media he didn't understand and couldn't use rather than over the "anti-Mormonism" lurking there.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.
