You don't believe in censorship?

I did it as a courtesy to the poster who deleted her original comments. Since she deleted her words, it's obvious that she didn't want them on the board.

"Censorship" would've been if *I* decided what you could and couldn't see. Original posters, by law, own the copyright to the words they post and are therefore within their rights to withdraw them from the public eye should they see fit.

That's a misapplication of copyright law. Once those words are in the public domain, others can quote them under the fair use doctrine. If you want to delete the quoted material as a courtesy, that's your choice, but it's not required by copyright law.

What if the words are no longer in the public domain thanks to the copyright owner withdrawing them from it?

In my understanding, it doesn't matter. It was published, read and used for additional commentary. If I recall correctly, you can't unring that bell.

I read where some are insinuating that I have been "greiving" over the election. That's funny. Unlike the anti-American democrats who fought against Bush from day one, I promised to support my President, democrat or republican. Incidentally, there is a big turn of events going on here in Atlanta. Chambliss and Martin are having a run off and with a Martin win, the democrats could enjoy a filibuster-free congress! Imagine that. I want there to be as many democrats in congress as possible, so in four years they won't be able to blame republicans for the state of the union. They won't be able to say the reason they didn't get things done was because the republicans put up road blocks.

I left for Brazil the day after the election and just got back the other day. For those interested, I've placed some photos on my Facebook site:http://www.Facebook.com/home.php?#/album.php?aid=9867&id=1427907950

Kevin,

It's good to see you around. Long time no see.

Everyone else:

I am glad to see some board members working out long-standing problems, and learning from their mistakes. I am less glad to see that some people just don't get it, and are using this thread as an excuse to rationalize and multiply the vitriol.

Well Shades, what would you think of the LDS church if it used that excuse to block access to changes in Poelman's General Conference talk, changes in the Doctrine and Covenants / Book of Commandments, Changes in the Book or Mormon, etc.?

I'm not saying you did the wrong thing. I'm just trying to make you look at it from another angle.

Well, standing in contrast to your post, his posts are pretty thoughtful. For example how is this post not thoughtful?

1) He differentiates himself from the shrill racists on this board by supporting the current President-elect. This shows class and closure on this particular point.

2) He brings up awareness on a Congressional race that wasn't on my radar, but could have significant impact on the national level... In the shrill racists' favor.

3) He shares photos. I wouldn't do that. But he does.

That's a lot more thoughtful than half the crap I see people post on any board, let alone this one. You just don't like him. Can't you get past your own bigotry for a moment and appreciate a little diversity?

What is "crap" to you, may not be "crap" to other people. And just maybe there's a lot you don't understand about this issue.

Again, wow. The ridiculousness of your proposition hardly warrants a response, but here goes nothing:

First of all, are you trying to be funny? Saying that Kevin is "under constant and withering personal attacks" is hilarious. Seriously. Kevin actually has a button on his keyboard that spells out "idiot" with one stroke.

Second of all, in the post you've gotten a chubby over he calls Democrats "anti-Americans" and talks about how he hopes the entire government fills with Democrats and fails so he can say, "Told ya so."

In case you are really, really tranked - that is not a thoughtful post.

But let's not kid each other, this is all about political agenda. You like Kevin because he supported your guy (you know, the old dude with the jawbreaker in his mouth).

You seem to have a cultist's devotion to the Right, my friend. Seems like your accusation towards Beastie could (and probably should) have been directed towards yourself.

I just thought you had more self respect than to call Kevin a "thoughtful" poster - the same guy that said black kids only aspire to be rappers, basketball players, or drug dealers.

Can't you get past your own bigotry for a moment and appreciate a little diversity?

LOL. OK, sure. I'll try and get past my own bigotry long enough to appreciate the finer things in life - including the writings of Right wing morons.

I think you're losing it dude...
