Baptisms are irrelevant to my prediction. Its tithing contributions that the corporation of Joe only really concerned themselves with.

Jason, I am interested in hearing your response if at all possible.

Certainly some may par back their donations as the economy falters. However I highly doubt most the faithful will cut back. If anything preaching from the pulpit about tithing will be, as I think you or someone else said, even more emphasized. The Church leaders do not want to see the 10% slide. But it will be less in total because as incomes tumble so the 10% will be less.

But really, I think most active LDS will continue to pay tithing. Would some recent convert become more resistant. Yes this is a distinct possibility. But in my days where I dealt with tithing there were even members that you might think were solid as a rock that did not tithe when financial stress came on. And they continued to attend and hold callings, without temple recommends in some cases.

Jason, I know you really don't turn to statistical outliers to prove your case...or are you that desperate to prove me wrong?
