even ONE archaelogical Book of Mormon find?
Is there even one credible archaeoligical find that points to ANY Book of Mormon connection? One?
With all the steel, silks, writings and civilization can't someone fine at least one piece of Book of Mormon artifact?
Millions upon millions in the civilization in the book. Where is any evidence at all?

I like the finds of copper weaponry and iron swords as documented in Haywood's book. The finding of three plates of brass "with characters inscribed upon them resembling letters" in Wheeling, Virginia

You mean, other than by Joseph Smith?
He found Zelph and a few Book of Mormon era trinkets.

From the outside academic view? NONE.squawkeye wrote:Is there even one credible archaeoligical find that points to ANY Book of Mormon connection? One?

From the inside Mormon view? Depends on who you are, where you live, and what you need to support your beliefs.
To the dismay of Farms/MI/Fair, most active members are Meldrumites and believe just about anything they hear in their chapel.

The material culture you have mentioned is irrelevant to proving the Book of Mormon true.
For instance, if a bowl was found in palestine, one could not turn to it and state that bowls are mentioned in the Bible, therefore Christ really existed and was the son of god, etc etc.
Your concept of support for large narratives and how it correlates to material culture is laughable.

An assistant to the mission president turned to me in conversation while I was in Duluth, beginning to mention the kinderhook plates. He stated how wonderful this little known proof of the Book of Mormon isn't taught that much and how wonderful this "translation" along with the Book of Abraham proved Joseph Smith to be even more of a prophet.
I had done a fair ammount of reading on the (relatively ancient) internet before I left and had come acrost the kinderhook plates on boards and pro-history sites. I gave him the whole story and he didn't get what I was saying. He couldn't fathom that the kinderhook plates were a fraud. I think he had been Bible bashing with someone and been handed a kinderhook "primer". His conclusion that it was not a fraud and how it supposedly supported Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon was his invention from whole cloth.
On a side note I was then asked point blank 10 minutes later in my mission presidents interview if I supported and read anti-mormon literature. It was the last 3 months of my mission and I didn't want to answer any more stupid questions. It was either a setup (likely in my mission) or it was retribution for making the Assistant to the President look like a complete dumbass.

Oh, for “F”'s sake. Every MAJOR civilization has HUGE archaeological finds. The Nephite civlization didn't exist. Jesus. I mean... Jesus. This is just beyond stupid at this point. Fegh.

Furthermore, please cite other independent research outside of Haywood that links the finds to this supposed nephite culture you speak of.

The Book of Mormon describes the Nephite Army as numbering close to a million men. To field, fully equip and support a million men iron age army a civilization would have to be very large and very complex. It would need to produce huge amounts of food, cloths, and weapons, and it would need a reliable communication and transportation system. These types of numbers would indicate a civilization the size of the Roman empire. This was no minor tribe huddled in a corner of the Yucatan Peninsula. A civilization of this size and complexity would leave evidences of its existence.
Where are ore mines and smelters? where is all the armor and hundreds of thousands of steel swords? Where are the horses and chariots? Where are the written records of the great battles? Even the victorious Lamanites would have passed down in their oral traditions the stories of the great victory. Why the silence?
The Lamanites would have prized the war booty of steel weapons, horses and chariots. These things would be of great value to them and would not of been discarded. What happened to all of this?
Wait, I think I'm hearing an answer. It's Mr. Occam and his dog Razor. They're calling B***S**t.

This reminds me of a plane ride next to a TBM, who was ever more amazed at the boatloads of new artifacts being found in South America that PROVE the Book of Mormon is true.
