UPDATE:

  • The Rules of the Board have been completely revamped and overhauled. Please read this.
  • Smilies are now working.

That said, I think everything is now in place. Let the experiment begin in earnest.

I would also like to add that this is new territory for this board. This is a learning exercise, so if a mod does something you don't like, PLEASE don't freak out.

I suggest we keep this thread open to discuss moderation decisions that you think are unfair. Or, if you wish, feel free to PM the mod who enacted the decision and talk about it.

Lets try and find an acceptable balance.

Does that apply to us too? There's usually a short period of grace and allowance for error until all become more familiar with the new rules (road or otherwise). After that short period - lock 'em up. Except for blatant breeches of course.

I think that is a fair point, Ray.

I agree. Perhaps we should have a couple of days where we merely point out that a post is out of line and, although we will let it stand, it violates the new rules.

I will definitely freak out.

You can count on it.

Thanks Doc for your efforts to up-grade an already out-standing site. And my appreciation goes to all the Mods for their time commitments. Harmony is a great addition.

That this change was brought about by an incident that troubled "a regular poster" is unfortunate. As are all avoidable accidents to classify it that way. I think however, when a person goes on a public board it is an opportunity to develop a thicker-skin than they might otherwise have needed.

Concern was expressed for those posters, mostly females, who visit less frequently--gender favouritism  What my skin isn't thick enough for is the back&forth nit-picking of you-said-I-said over some nonsensical terminology that is little more than game-playing. Can that be Moded? Could be that discourages more than you might imagine?

I miss serious posters like Jason, JAK, TD and other, as well as I enjoy regulars Ray, Seth, Dude & Anti-8... I hope the attempt to regulate won't Vanillaize your creation. Like it's said, "let the wheat & weeds grow together."

Respectfully, Roger

We discussed this as moderators and decided that since DCP is a celebrity apologist that he is a subject of Mormonism, just as the Prophet or the apostles might be. He is fair game for criticisms. NOT for personal attacks. There is most certainly a fine line between the two, and for the most part it has not crossed it, with the exception of what Chris has already moderated.

I spoke privately with Dr Peterson about this and he agreed with our decision.

Again, you may criticize Dr Peterson as an apologist. Anything beyond that is off limits and will be censored just like everyone else.

This holds true for any paid, high profile apologist. But, since I don't know of any others that post here, we will limit this to Dr Peterson for now.
