Do LDS Actually believe this stuff?
http://emp.byui.edu/marrottr/341folder/ ... annon.html
Is this guy to be believed? Are his cites credible? Does the LDS Church really believe this Zelph stuff?
If the locations are to be believed why aren't BYU grave diggers swarming over the areas getting the lamanite bones from the ground? Why aren't they all over the area mapping the 'nephite temple' sites?
Zelph stood 8 or 9 feet tall?
Did the 'white and deligtsome' Lamanite play basketball or did his earlier broken leg injury keep him from it?
It is easier to believe the movie ET is real than this.

That's a long post in a very tiny font. How about the readers digest version??

Technically, since the Zelph incident isn't in the LDS canon, no, LDS do not actually have to believe this stuff, though some obviously do.

Zelph, the 3 Nephites, etc. are all examples of Mormon myth. Joseph was making it up as he went along.
I'll leave you to decide what else is Mormon myth.

(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

99.9% of LDS absolutely do believe the Zelph story, I'm afraid. They are what are known as Chapel Mormons. .1% or less, probably much less, emphatically do NOT believe the Zelph story. Or rather, their version of the Zelph story is that Joseph Smith was just "joking" about it.

Considering the articles in LDS publications about Zelph I would think it LDS Doctrine.
As for a small font, most of us can enlarge how it appears on our computer screens.
Interesting Joseph said Zelph died in Illinois in the last great battle. A long, long way from the single Hill Cumorah in New York. How many millions were in the Army to have a battle that spread over that much country?

Yes...one could walk into primary classes or gospel essentials or even gospel doctrine classes anywhere in the world and ask for a raise of hand of those who "absolutely" know who Zelph is, and on average more than 9 out of ten will raise their hands.
The question is, how many critics on this board, in addition to Gad, believe what i just said?

I am waiting for the theory of the location of the third Cumorah.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

Re: Do LDS Actually believe this stuff?
Forget the three Cumorahs. We know where at least a half dozen Mollies Nipple hills and mountains are located. Stick with what we know. A lot easier than trying to add to what Joseph taught.(that the hill Cumorah was in New York and had rooms full of records on plates)
